"You went on a run like you didn't just eat me a few minutes ago!" I spoke, shocked about his smirk. I expected that, but I didn't expect this conversation.

Nicolas tilted his head while he drove the car. We were on our way home, to our home. He told me we won't be staying with Ellie and Atlas. I was looking forward to seeing Ellie again after I don't even know how long. But Nicolas assured me that we will see them today, so that was good.

"It was a good breakfast." he teased. I rolled my eyes, my cheeks burning and something in me clenching.

Talking about our... our sex stuff was inappropriate, especially in the car!

My stomach growled. I was hungry— again?

"Huh. You're on a hunger strike." Nicolas chuckled. For some reason, I am on a hunger strike. The orange juice I drank wasn't enough, I'm guessing. "We can stop near a small mall. Maybe buy some new things?"

I shook my head; food was enough. Clothes are expensive. "We can just eat. I didn't bring much money for shopping."

Nicolas looked at me, and then back at the road. "Piccolina, you're a Balmorra now. Everything I have is yours."

Oops. I accidentally forgot that I'm married to this man.

Was the sex not much of a reminder to you?

Shut up.

"You're frowning." I glanced at Nicolas. I was? "Is everything okay?" he asked, a mix of confusion and worried surrounding his voice.

I nodded, looking at my ring. "Yep." I lied.

"Liar." he muttered under his breath. "I have a super power; detecting lies."

I giggled. It wasn't that funny, but he tried making a joke. Which means that he's trying to make everything better. Nicolas never made jokes. I wonder what changed?

"Spill?" he asked. The car was parked near a small mall, the parking lot was filled with cars. This must be a mall for small towns nearby?

I shrugged, biting my lip. "I just don't want to be a burden."

Nicolas nodded, but he had a smile on his face. "Well, you're my best burden."

He winked at me. winked. Nicolas Balmorra winked. Have you ever seen a tiger wink? This was it. Nicolas Balmorra winking was like a tiger winking: unpredictable.

He opened the car door, running through my side to open the door. His boyish smile appearing on his face. Something was wrong with him today, but I loved it.

"What do you want to eat? Anything. My treat." he said, taking my hand and dragging me inside.

"I think you forgot that your money is mine too."
