"How is she?" I asked, closing the door. Valerio hardened his gaze. He was also mad.
He didn't express his feelings, instead, he gave me a shrug. "She's fine. Still not awake." I nodded, staring at Oceana's mesmerizing face. I didn't know what to tell her if she ever wakes up, I have no fucking idea what to even say. I sat beside Valerio.
It was so silent, the machine beeping makes me want to take my ears off.
I breathed.
Valerio doesn't know how to open a conversation up, nor talking to other people. He has a lot to say, but he doesn't know how to start the conversation. That was another reason why he'd rather be alone than be in a big party. He was that type of person.
"What will you tell her?" I asked. Instead of him helping me with my situation, I wanted to help him.
He grunted. "What will you tell her?"
I shrugged, a desperate sigh leaving my mouth. "I have no fucking idea." I whispered.
He chuckled coldly. "Same."
I looked at him, his eyes on Oceana. And then I laughed. Not loud, but enough for him to join. We laughed. Like some two idiots, or two brothers. We laughed like it was the last emotion we didn't know we can have.
"I'm happy you're here, Nicolas." Valerio admitted.
I looked away, my eyes settling on Oceana. She slept peacefully, her eyes puffy. I nodded. I was, too. I was meant to be here. Near her, beside her.
"Thank you for being here, Valerio. I owe you a lot." I whispered. He chuckled again.
"I'm planning on introducing myself to May and Rodriguez."
I sat straight, looking at him again with a raised brow. "You think that's a good idea? Involving them in this thing? In your life?"
He crossed his arms, his eyes still on his sister. "I don't have anyone, Nico. I don't have anyone and I'm desperate to meet them. I want to know everything about Oceana, and my... well, April."
From what I found out, April is May's sister, and April is Oceana's mother. But no one knows if that's true. If Valerio found Oceana abandoned, then where was May or Rocco? Oceana wasn't her real name, too, right?
If things were confusing as fuck, this was over the moon.
It was too much for me to think about, but I needed to know the truth, and who she was. Because no matter how deep we fucking dig, there was nothing to be found. No secrets to be unfold, or stories to be shared.
