The Secrets Between Us

The next morning after I woke up I laid in my bed staring up at the ceiling , replaying all of last nights events. After Trevor and I left we took our already paid for food and ate in his car, and then he drove me home.

"Honey Breakfast Is ready" My mom yelled from downstairs.

I always loved waking up to my mothers cooking on a Saturday morning. As I walked downstairs the aromas of pancakes, bacon and eggs filled my nostrils.

"Mom you really know how to get someone out of bed in the morning"

"Ill take that as a compliment, and your welcome" she said while pouring me a glass of apple juice.

"So anyways" she continued, " I will be going shopping later for the Todd's party, Jemals mother asked me to come over and help her get started."

I slapped my forehead. I completely forgot about the party Jemal and his family were having today. His father had just been promoted to general manager and his mom was throwing him a surprise congratulatory party. I had not even spoken with Jemal since yesterday. I think he was a little frustrated with me for leaving with Trevor last night. As I was eating my last strip of bacon I decided I would give him a call.

As I was calling him his ringback tone he had set for me was playing in my ear. it was 'Shine bright like a Diamond' by Rhianna.

"hello?' Okay that's not good he usually answers me with 'Hey Joce!'

"Hey J, do you still want me to stop by early to help pick out a gift for your dad?" Last week Jemal had begged me to help him shop for his dads gift. He sucked when it came to stuff like that and usually need my help. Ironically enough when it came to my birthday he always got me the perfect gifts.

"Yeah I geuss"

"You geuss? if you don't want me to come just tell me I can take it like a man" I teased trying to lighten the mood.

"No come" He finally said with a sigh. "Meet me in an hour?"

"Okay..." And he hung up.

I Decided I would take my time to give him time to get his thoughts together. At about 12:30 noon my mom and I drove around the corner to the Todd's house. We rung the doorbell and was greeted by the warm smile of Mrs.Todd.

"Oh, come on in ladies" Mrs.Todd said invitingly.

"Hello Sue, I love what you've done with the place" My mom said to Jemal's mother. Moms were funny like that. Always making small talk about each others homes and whatnot.

"Wow Jocelyn every time I see you, you get more and more pretty" Mrs.Todd complimented me.

"If only I could get her into a dress and to get her hair out of that messy bun and straightened" my mom interjected.

"Thankyou Mrs.Todd, and I like the way I dress and the style of my hair just fine thanks mom" I said cutting an eye at her.

"Well Jemal is upstairs somewhere. why don't you find him and get him to come downstairs" Mrs. todd suggested.

"alright" I ran up the steps skipping two steps at a time like I always did. When I got to his room I lifted my hand to knock but before I could he opened the door. I was a little taken aback. He had on a blue button down short and gray khaki shorts. He had a fresh look to him and smelled a manly yet fresh smell. He was amazing.

"Hey J.." I greeted him. He gave me a quick once over and I immediately felt like I should have wore a skirt or make up like my mom said. "Hey Come in" he said walking back in his room

"So whats the plan for today?" I asked

"We can start by stopping by the Mall and then come back here" he said without meeting my eyes once
