Deep Decisions

When I arrived home from school exhaustion took over me. I was surprised to find my mom home so early.

" Hey hon, how was school"?

"Kind of tiring "

"Want to tell me what happened?"

"I kinda just want to take a nap" I told her.

"Okay, dinner will be ready in a couple of hours."

I shuffled up to my room and layed on my back starring up at the ceiling. Slowly sleep eluded me and I drifted off ...

*Ring* "Hello"? I answered my phone.

"Joce I'm so sorry honey..you were sleep and I didn't want to wake you.

I'm so sorry "

"Mom slow down, where are you "?

"I'm in the hospital .. Jemal has been hit by a car" I bolted out my room and out my house and into my car. I sped down the highway daring a police car to stop me. when I got to the hospital I burst through Jemal's door to see our moms huddled over him.

"Jemal are you okay" I asked grabbing his face gently

"Where were you Joce. I needed you and you weren't there for me. I needed you " he kept repeating the same words over and over.

" I'm so sorry Jemal " I started to cry silently. His moniter started to beep. "Nurse"! I screamed.

Beep. Beep. Beeep. Beeeep. Beeeeeeeeeeep. He was gone.

I jolted up right in my bed breathing heavily. These dreams have got to stop, I thought to myself. I glanced over at my clock. 6:OO '. Wow had I really fallen asleep for 3 hours? I went downstairs and smelled the fresh aroma of ribs and greens baking.

"Nice nap"? Mom asked

"Not really"

"Are you okay Hon, you seem tense latley"

"Just heavy work at school" I suggested. I didn't need my mom worrying about me

"Maybe some fresh air would do you good" She advised smiling. Maybe she was right. I took my ipod and went outside on my front porch.

You Belong With Me by Taylor Swift came on and I skipped it. Then Halo by Beyonce came on and I skipped that too. I was not in the mood for love songs. Pour it up by Rhianna came on and finally I was at peace. I started to loudly sing along and tap my foot...

" Strip clubs and dollar bills, still got my money, patron shots can I get a refil ... " I sang along.

I looked up and saw the sun was setting, and then off into the distance I saw a.. figure?

Is that.. Oh no. I saw Jemal slowly jogging up my street. I tried to go back in the house before he saw me but it was too late.

"Hey" he said showing all his teeth with his signature smile. He had his shirt off showing his 6 pak and his body was slightly glazed from sweat. Ugh. Beautiful.

"Hey" I said back in a bored tone as if he were annoying me. Even I flinched at myself at how bitchy I sounded. He frowned at me.

"I could hear your singing from down the street and had to come over here to make sure no one died"

"Ha ha very funny" I rolled my eyes

"I thought so" he said smiling again."WAnt to join me in my run?" he asked suddenly excited.

"I don't think so"

"Cmon loser buys winner donuts" He said waggling his eyebrows. "I'll go easy on you promise"
