Monday when I returned to school I was in such a great mood. Jordan, Jemal and I had all rode to school together and I had to admit, he was looking good. He had on a blue Hollister hoodie and Black jeans, and the aroma of his scent filled my car. Jordan must have picked up on my feelings because she kept dropping little hints the whole ride there.
"Wow Jocelyn looks nice this morning, don't you think Jemal"? she would say to him. I found myself getting annoyed, but I knew she had good intensions.
When we pulled up to LaQueen High Jemal ran off to were his basketball team was and Jordan and I went into school to join our normal group of friends.
"Omg, Did you guys see Bruno Mars performance at the Grammys!?" Layla squeeled. she had a thing for Bruno ever since he first appeared on TMZ.
"Bruno? How about Justin Timberlake, he deff brought sexy back last night" Jordan Countered.
I couldn't help but roll my eyes.
"Both of you are insane" I said. "Clearly Carrie Underwood was AMAZING lastnight" I wasn't one for Country music, but Carrie Underwood made it so interesting, and that's what a true artist does in my opinion.
Just then the bell signaling first period went off.
When Jordan and I walked into Mr.Henderson's room we couldn't help but notice a group of girls surrounding Haley in the back of the room.
"And the he took me to a late night movie, put his arm around me, and kissed me like there was no tomorrow." Haley said to the girls around her who were mesmorized.
Jordan and I exchanged looks wondering who she could be talking about.
"Wow you two make the perfect couple" Some girl told her
"Yup, Jemal and I were meant for each other" Haley said. I don't know if it was just in my head or not but it seemed like she shouted this loud enough for me to hear. It worked. On the outside I just went to my seat and took out my books. On the inside I was fuming.
"Don't believe her" Jordan said catching my shift in mood. "We all know how Haley loves to over exaggerate things" this time Jordan spoke loud enough for Haley to hear.
"What are you insisting Jordan"? Haley asked, "That im lying"?
"Duh"
"Well im not. Ask your friend Jocelyn. She Left us alone so she knows we were alone that night"
"Yeah at a restaurant not at a movie" I corrected her. I didn't mean to say those words outloud but It was too late to take it back now.
"Your just mad because Jemal is starting to realize he can have other girls around him too"
Before I could comment Mr. Henderson walked in.
"Sorry Im late, lets pick up with Mondays lessons" The entire class my mind was everywhere but what Mr. Henderson was saying. What if Jemal really kissed Haley? they did seem to be getting closer lately. What if he liked her. I decided I needed to get my act together. Jemal wasn't going to stay on the market forever . if I was going to reveal my feelings I needed to do it soon.
After class I told Jordan to meet me in the bathroom before lunch. I knew we would have to conduct a plan and she would deff want in on it.
When I got to 4th period, the class before lunch, I had thought of a really good idea. the winter dance was coming up, and maybe I could ask jemal to go as my date, and then reveal my feelings. After 4th period I went to the bathroom to meet up with Jordan.
"One question, why are we in the bathroom"
"because out in the halls you never know whos listening, I informed her.
"Okay so whats up? Whats this big secret you have to reveal to me"
"Im thinking about telling Jemal that I like him and want to be more than just friends" Her eyes widened and then she pulled me into a giant hug jumping up and down. she was such a drama queen.
"yes yes yes yess! finally ! Do you know how long ive been waiting for you to grow some lady balls and tell him?" she screamed
"Shhh hush your voice, and its not that simple. I didn't want to tell him because we always promised to not keep secrets from each other, how do you think he will react when he finds out I been keeping this from him for such a long time"
"Im sure he will understand why you kept this secret Jocelyn, and I doubt telling him will ruin your friendship at all, either way you have to do this. take the chance"
"You're right" I finally decided with a long, tired sigh.
"Any ideas on how to do it?" Jordan asked me curious to what I had come up with,
"Well the winter dance is coming up. maybe I could ask him to go and the tell him there"
"I got it !" Jordan exclaimed. "the winter dance is coming up, you can ask him to go, and then tell him there!" She said. I couldn't she just zoned me out just to come up with the same thing I said a few seconds ago.
"Great idea why didn't I come up with that" I said sarcastically.
"But you should make it mysterious first" Hmm now were getting somewhere.
"what did you have in mind"? I asked.
"What if you stuck a note in his locker saying a secret admirer wanted to go with him to the dance, and then each day leading up to the dance you give him one hint revealing who you are, and then the day before the dance tell him what kind of dress you will have on and tell him to find you. then once he finds you tell him how you've felt all this time"
I had to admit, the plan was genious. "See this is why I love you" I pulled her into an embrace
Just then one of the stalls in the bathroom burst open and out popped Haley. My heart dropped so fast I thought I would go into cardiac arrest. I Couldn't decide what was worst, the fact she had heard everything or the fact she had an evil grin on her face.
"Well, well, well." She said. "I knew the whole best friend façade was an act, you like Jemal" I couldn't even bring myself to answer her. I was at a lost for words.
"So he doesn't like secrets between you guys huh?" she continued. "Wonder how he will feel if I tell him this instead of him hearing it from your mouth"
"If you do ill break your face" Jordan said defending me.
"Now, why would you threaten me? I have something against you now" Her evil smile appeared "Don't worry Jocelyn your secrets save with me for now, that is if you do everything I tell you. Wouldn't want Jemal finding out your little secret now would we?" She walked over to the mirror and applied eyeliner like we weren't still in the bathroom. "Oh and Jordan your plan was pretty good, im sure you wont mind if I steal that plan and use it myself would you?" Jordan scowled at her
"See you girls later" Haley said with a smirk making her exit.
I Just starred at the door she had just walked out of. How could I let this happen. I looked over at Jordan who was looking at me with sympathy in her eyes.
"Jocelyn.. im so sorry..." Before she could finish I was out the door and running to my car. I would be taking an early day and going home. This day couldn't get any worst.
