            Chapter 16

              Mia's pov

After stealing a few hot sweet kisses behind Leighton's truck, he got ready to leave grumbling that I was 'denting his self control.' Knowing what he meant, I wish him good bye and watched him hugging the present I had given to him, then he climbed into his truck and with a wave he drove off.

Text message ;- Leighton

Good morning beautiful woman who keeps hopping into my dreams, have a stressfree day and I want you to know that you'll be on my mind all day.

I grinned, feeling special and texted him back.

Good morning handsome man, if you don't want me in your dreams then you should keep out of mines. Thank you and have a superb day.

I parked in the driveway of a gorgeous two story house, I hoped no one was there and if anyone is, I hope that they are nice and respectful. The garden looked well tended and the edging was neatly trimmed, it looked lonely though with a huge landscape and far from the other houses. I popped the trunk and got out of the car, after tieing my apron around my waist over my cleaning gear, I took up my box of cleaning supplies and walked to the front door. It opened automatically and I walked inside after a moment.

"Good morning I am upstairs," said a boisterous male voice.

Clutching the heavy box of cleaning items to my chest I walked up the wide staircase, the off-white walls had little to know adornments. My eyes quickly took in my surroundings and I was on high alert, one false move from anyone within this house and they'll get the liquid detergent and the clorox bleach.

"Come this way, I hope you have breakfast, I only wanted some coffee this morning," the deep voice said and I followed it to a dull yellow living room which had sparse furnishing.

I was surprised to come face to face with a woman in a night gown.

"Oh fix your face, I forgot your supervisor said she'll be sending a new one," she said.

Her deep masculine voice makes everything around me feel strange and I wanted to bolt. She smiled a beautiful one and I calmed down a little,  however I was at my first choice when she spoke again.

"You may be thinking I'm a transgender, I'm not. My voice has become like this after I had a terrible accident, doctors hope to fix it soon and I hope they do. I am frowned upon whenever I go out and speak, trust me it's terrible acting mute," she explains with a sigh at the end.

"I'm Mia, I was sent here to clean your house," I said pleasantly.

"Hahaha, ok Mia, it's nice to meet you. I'm Shantania, you can call me shantae- you can go about and do what you have to. I hardly get to talk to people these days, it's nice to speak and not see any judgement in your eyes," she said.

I look directly into her eyes for a moment not sure how to respond to what she says, her sad eyes bore into mines until she looked down.

"My coffee has gone cold," she murmured looking at the small table beside her.

I saw the dainty white teacup and ask, "would you like me to reheat it for you, or perhaps make you a fresh cup?"

She raised her gaze back to mine and smile. "Thanks, but it's ok. I'll go and reheat it and allow you to get started on your work," she said and got up.
