Marshall and Everest continued to cuddle each other as Everest rubbed the Dalmatian's cheek with one of her paws, their tails intersecting as the two lovers got even closer to each other, hearing the gentle waves of the ocean crash against the Flounder.
Marshall was more than happy to spend the rest of the date cuddling with Everest, but it seemed that the Husky had something to say. Something that had been on her mind ever since the reunion between Marshall and his family started not too long ago.
"Marshy, I have something to say. Can you hear me out?" Everest asked as she stopped cuddling Marshall, she fully intended to continue cuddling him after she said this, but she felt both of their attentions had to be on this.
"Of course Ev, go right ahead." Marshall said as the two pups took a deep breath at the same time.
"Thanks. So, Marshall, I can see you've been... how do I put this? Struggling ever since your parents got here, and I've noticed how overprotective they're being, especially after... what happened at the training course. I know what's going on in your personal life is none of my business, but as your partner, I want to be here for you. So I wanted to ask, can you give me some context about what happened before you left Azura?" Everest asked as Marshall took a deep breath, bringing his mind back to what happened back then.
"Well Everest, it all started when..." Marshall began as he closed his eyes, his mind recreating what had happened so he could explain it to Everest so that she had more context about what happened between him and his parents, which would then allow her to share that new information with the rest of the Paw Patrol so that they could help Marshall and his family navigate this reunion better, and with far less arguments that were beginning to tear the already damaged bond between Marshall and his family apart at the seams.
"The main events of what happened started when we all woke up for a very special day. The 50th anniversary of Azura's formation." Marshall began as he woke up in his recreation of the events, waking up in his dog bed near the rest of his family as their human owners woke up.
"To celebrate the 50th anniversary of our town's formation, the local police station opened up the training courses to anyone or any pup who wanted to give it a go. The top three human finishers and top three dog finishers during this special day would get an opportunity to head to the closest police academy and eventually join the force. I thought nothing of this until Blaze told me that he wanted me to attempt the course. So I did." Marshall continued to explain as Everest tried to figure out where this would be going.
"Then what happened, Marshall?" Everest asked as she found herself beginning to cry, cuddling around Marshall once more as the Dalmatian rested his head on Everest's back, cuddling into her as much as possible as he continued speaking.
"Well, our human owners picked us up from the training course after that, and we went off into Azura's city square to explore some more of the anniversary festivities, which was the most normal part of that day. After the celebrations were done and we were all home, Blaze and Smoke pulled me aside from the others to yell at me, saying that I'm a disappointment and a mistake of a pup. That's what sparked me to run away from home, I wrote them all a note and then left. I eventually ended up in Adventure Bay where Ryder found me and adopted me, and then I joined the Paw Patrol alongside Chase. The rest is Paw Patrol history." Marshall finished, he knew he was leaving out details, but that wasn't intentional. His mind was too focused on how beautiful Everest is, and how much the Dalmatian loves her to focus on the recreation of his past, to his own dismay.
"I see, thanks for telling me Marshall. I hope things get better for you and your parents. This kind of fighting isn't good for any of us." Everest said in reply as Captain Turbot spoke, getting the pair's attention as they looked behind themselves.
