As Everest's words processed in Marshall's head, it felt like an explosion of feelings had gone off inside of his head, and he was in the epicentre of it. But the dally couldn't help but have a really wide smile on his face as he repeated the adorable Siberian Huskies words that she had shared with him in his head.
"Mar-Marshy? Are you okay?" that same husky asked, yanking Marshall back to reality.
"Yeah I'm okay Eve, and I have an answer for you about that question you asked earlier," Marshall let out as he looked up from his paws and towards Everest. He had been keeping these feelings to himself for a while, but with Everest's question, it felt like a green light had went off in his head after the explosion of feelings had cleared up, and Marshall was in a race car, speeding off the moment that the figurative light went off.
As for Everest, this reply from Marshall left her with uncertainty about what he was saying to her, but her internal question would soon be answered as Marshall cleared his throat and looked back towards the husky.
"Everest, from the day I first saw you in the South Pole, I've always loved you. I would love to go on a date with you, you beautiful husky," Marshall said as he jumped towards Everest, tackling her to the ground in front of the lookout playfully and began licking her face, spreading joy to both of the love struck pups.
After a few minutes of the two pups rolling around in the grass in front of the lookout, they both found themselves laying down next to each other, looking up to the sky as the sun began to set over Adventure Bay.
"Marshy, I love you," Everest let out as the sky turned yellow, orange and red above them. "And I always will, you silly pup. I don't know everything that led to you cutting ties with your family, or why you had to do that to join our team, but to me," Everest paused for a moment as she rolled over once more and nuzzled her head into Marshall's neck, feeling his soft white and black spotted fur against hers as she continued speaking. "It doesn't matter, tell all of us what's going on at your pace and when you're ready, if you ever are. I'm looking forward to meeting your family in person though Marshall," Everest finished as she rolled back over and continued looking at the expanding sunset above the two of them, feeling the dirt and grass they werelaying on stain her fur lightly, maybe they could go to Katie's for a bath after they're done watching the sunset move across the expansive sky? Clearly the two of them needed one.
Marshall also had dirt on his face and stomach as he laid next to Everest in front of the lookout, watching the sunset, it had stained his fur, but it was nothing a nice hot bubble bath at Katie's couldn't fix. But beyond anything, no matter how dirty his fur gets, his love for Everest, how proud he is to not only be a Paw Patrol member, but a friend of all of these incredible people and pups while doing what he truly loves will never get dirty or fade, everything in his life almost felt like a dream for the first few months that he was on the team, maybe it was and still is a dream. But if it was a dream, he wouldn't want someone to pinch him at all. Because he's happiest right here and now.
"Ev, I love you too. Like I said before, I always have. Everything about you, your beautiful blue eyes, your soft fur, how great of a friend and teammate you are, honestly just everything about you. I'll be honest, I was scared of confessing my feelings to you for a while after I found myself feeling things I never have before ever since we met you in the South Pole, I honestly thought you wouldn't feel the same way, but I'm glad I was wrong. You're incredible, Everest," Marshall said in reply as both pups got off of the ground and finally got a good look at how much dirt had stained each other's fur. If anyone hadn't met them before and this was their first impression of the two pups, they probably wouldn't think they look like members of the Paw Patrol, but instead more like dirty dog monsters that are going to eat all of the food in your house.
