"Is that clear?"
I nodded.
"Good. Just let me know what the address is."
"Oh yeah sure, let me write it down now before I forget." I searched for some pen and paper on the table and began writing down the address which I learnt by heart. I've been working there for several years, so it made sense how I knew the address.I handed the piece of paper to him and he slipped it into his pocket inside his suit. I noticed his phone in his other pocket and remembered about my own. Would he let me use it? I mean it's worth the try.
"Uhh also, can I have my phone back? I need it for work."
He gave me a look that made my spine shiver. Maybe he despised seeing me get freedom. Or. Like he said, he can't afford to lose me. Maybe he was scared he would lose me."You have e-mail on your computer, right? Besides, how I will know whether you might try to call the police? I know how you're like."
"I mean, is there any way you can look at maybe, my phone or something? Like view my screen? I don't care, it's not like I have anything bad or embarrassing on it."
"Hmm.. There is this app I know. I'll need to download it on your phone and pair our devices."
"Yeah sure go ahead." I was surprised how he didn't question me finding an alternative option for him to still control me. I just have to hope that my friends didn't call the police, otherwise everything would be ruined. He would blame me for it, and never forgive me. He might be able to get away from it, and punish me endlessly, venting out his frustration to me.The rest of the day went quite quickly. He had to do some important work, which he went inside his office to do so. It was a small room, but it had enough space for a desk, a computer, a chair, a printer and a cupboard for some files. I tried to ask him what his job was, but of course, I got no response except a small chuckle. I was convinced that he worked for some dangerous organization. Anyway, I'll make sure that I'll find out all his secrets that he kept from me. Whilst he was doing that, I decided to explore the house a bit. Since I was going to live there for what seems like forever now, I had to be introduced well with where I'll stay.
Firstly, I checked all the other rooms upstairs, beginning with my room since I didn't really pay much attention to its details. The carpet was coated with a velvety-dark beige color, which probably made the room get hot easily. There was a beautiful painting above the bed, which somehow looked familiar. I've seen it before. But where? I didn't own it. I chose to ignore it; I'm an artistic person who often visited museums for ideas so it was probably one of the million paintings I've seen in my life.
By the window stood a towering gray curtain also made of velvet. I had to admit, I loved every detail in this room, and it reminded me of my own one. Opposite my bed stood a large mirror which looked spotlessly clean, as if it was untouched. I was glad that my room had one actually since I'd constantly look at myself in the mirror to see whether I looked good and everything.I went to the other room, which was his one. The room was filled with his strong scent. Luring. Deadly. His room had the same carpet and curtain as mine, but instead of the painting, he had a large black-and-white landscape of New York City. Did he also like the citylights and skyscrapers? Wow. I didn't know we had that much in common.
After I went to his room, I noticed the door with the lock on it. The forbidden room. There was a keyhole on the door handle, and I peered through it to attempt to see anything. Nothing. Just a small ray of blurred light with darkness that surrounded it. That suffocated it. I was yearning to discover what was behind it. What secrets would unfold once it was opened. Secrets that would get exposed to the outside world. To me.
Once I stepped outside, I didn't realize that the stairs ascended to another floor. Holding onto the banister, I made my way up to the third floor. I opened the wooden door to reveal a massive library, with small staircases that travelled to the books placed on the top shelves. There were enough books to call this a library - how does he have the money for this? My fingers caressed the covers of the books as I carefully chose a book for me to read. He had a wide selection: from Stephen King to Jane Austen, from psychological thriller to non-fiction. He had it all. He also loves reading books too. Did he even have the time to read? I mean, I did notice one on his tableside in his bedroom.
Just after I finished a short book that I chose to read in the time, I headed downstairs to the living room. He had a large TV engraved on the wall with soft couches opposite it. A glass coffee table stood in the center of the sofas, with some coasters placed around it. I felt like watching some TV but it just didn't seem right. I got kidnapped and I'm just gonna sit back and relax myself? No. I observed what was in the dining room and kitchen. In the kitchen there was an island made of marble with those bar seats on the edge of it. The dining table was large for one person, but sufficient enough for two. There was a large design on the wall in the dining room made of stones that took the shape of a tree with lights on some branches.
I looked over at the clock; 6:46 pm. I was getting quite hungry so I decide to shower first then eat. When I headed to the kitchen after changing, I heard footsteps approaching me.
"I'll make you some dinner. God, you must be really hungry. You haven't eaten properly in days. Sit down, and I'll make you something."
I didn't even realize that I actually haven't eaten in a while - most of the days I was unconscious due to oversleeping or drugs. After a 20 minutes wait, he presented me a large plate full of food. That much? Maybe he'll take some from me. But then I noticed he brought his own plate to it.
"T-this is too much for me to eat."
"You haven't eaten in days. You'll feel weak and how are you meant to go to work tomorrow?"
I nodded in despair. I'll try to eat as much as I could. And surprisingly, I managed to finish all of it.
"See? You managed to eat it after all."
Why does it matter that much to him whether I ate or not? It's caring, but annoying."Yeahh," I replied awkwardly. "I'm gonna head to bed now, I have work tomorrow. Plus I'm really tired."
"Ok," he said disappointedly. Did he want to spend time with me? It's not like we even speak a lot. Just before I left, I heard a 'goodnight' from him. That was. Sweet.
"Goodnight." I replied politely, heading my way to my room. I had to be prepared with encountering with the outside world tomorrow. With experiencing freedom.
