I could've sworn I left it on my desk.
How could it possibly had disappeared within a few seconds? God knows what he'll do to me if he finds out I've lost his house key he gave to me.

"Is everything ok? Are you looking for something?" A voice suddenly appeared behind me, which slightly startled me. I turned around to see that it was my co-worker David, who was staring at me with concern.
"I lost my house key. It was right by my desk but now I can't find it."
"Does it have anything that stands out? I mean like a colorful keyring?"
"No. It just has a few keys and that's it."
We began searching for it all over my desk, behind piles of paper, my computer, everywhere. But it wasn't there at all.

"I found it."
"What? Really?!"
"Here, it was literally sitting on your chair."
"Oh, thanks," I said whilst grabbing the keys from his hand.
"Hey, are you ok?" He said looking at me whilst I struggled to put on my ginormous coat.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Why?"
"You, don't seem ok? Is everything really ok?" He said as we began to walk together to the elevator.
"Well, my ki- boyfriend spoke to me about his past last night and it was really sad." It felt so weird calling him my boyfriend but I just couldn't afford to tell the truth, especially after how he reacted when he found out I told Aurora.
"Aww, that's really sweet. It shows that you truly care for h-."
He stopped midway whilst speaking and look directly at my face.
"Wait. You have a boyfriend? You never told me."
"It's something I haven't told anyone. I didn't want anyone to know until we're certain that it's a long-term relationship." I was surprised how quickly I came up with a believable response without stuttering once.

I pressed the elevator button, hoping that he wouldn't question me.
"I understand you. To be fair, I would do that too. So is the key yours or his then?"
"What. Why?"
How did he know?
"I've never seen yours but I assumed it was his because this looks really plain and a spare one."
"Yeah, it's his. I was surprised how he trusted me with it. In the morning, he wrote a note saying that he has to work until night, so he gave me his key. He also booked a cab for me to go here."
"That's so fucking sweet, omg. Are you both in a live-in relationship then?"
"Uhh, yeah. It's only been like a week or two."

"Do you have a picture with him?"

I froze upon hearing this. What do I say? If I say I don't have any, he'll question me. I mean who wouldn't have a photo with their partner? Quick. I have to think of something.

"I don't have any good ones. Plus, I think it's better that you'd meet him in person instead."
"Ok, fair enough."

Before he could ask me another question, the elevator finally reached our floor just in time. Why can't he stop with the questions? Like, he's a great friend but whenever something happens to me in my life, he always gets so nosey. And why did he have to act like this when it's something revolving about him?

We both entered it silently as I decided to go on my phone to avoid any more awkward questions.
"Can I ask you one last question? Sorry to bombard you with so many but this one has been bugging me for a while."
"Sure," I exclaimed forcing myself to not let out an exhausted sigh. Just when I thought it would all be over.
"This isn't about you this time; it's actually something quite personal. I have a crush on this girl who I met from a party last weekend. She has beautiful, wavy hair and hazel eyes that look so pretty. I didn't care too much about her overall body and figure; I was more intrigued in the small details. Her smile, her laugh, her fashion taste. She seemed like the perfect one for me."
"That's great!" I replied without trying to sound sarcastic. If anything, I was relieved that he stopped with interrogating my non-existent relationship with Alvize.
"So did you meet her again after the party then?" I added trying to maintain a conversation.
"I spoke to her at the party and she agreed to meet up after a week for coffee. But, here's what has been bothering me lately. I told my friends about her and wanted to know more stuff. But they said that she may seem all nice and pretty but in reality, she's one of the most toxic, possessive girlfriends you will date. I was so shocked when they said that because she looks so innocent. But they said she's not loyal and will only use you for either sex or money. Once she gets what she wants, she'll leave you as if you weren't even a part of her life."
