The first stop was to the police precinct, where Lan Wangji had already called the Police Commissioner and told him that he had to do some research regarding his new role. The Commissioner gladly granted him unlimited access to the precinct, although he wondered why the actor did not choose the central building, instead he chose some smaller office. But whatever he wanted, he would get.

"Does the Commissioner have a daughter?" Wei Wuxian teased Lan Wangji when he got the access rather quickly and easily. Just like back when he asked for Wei Wuxian's service as his bodyguard.

"As a matter of fact, he does. And a rather beautiful one too." Lan Wangji knew where this conversation was going, but he also liked to tease his spouse. "You know, she asked me to have dinner with her when we get back to town. Maybe I should go to ensure we have her father's help for the future?"

"Hm, if that's what you want, I will not stand in your way." Wei Wuxian shrugged nonchalantly as he walked to the direction of the morgue, when Lan Wangji pulled him hard. The sudden move caused Wei Wuxian to crash into Lan Wangji's hard body, and the latter turned him around and kissed him.

"Why are you not jealous?" Lan Wangji whispered into Wei Wuxian's mouth and his hands tightened around his waist.

"Why would I…" Wei Wuxian traced Lan Wangji's chest with his finger teasingly, "when I know for sure that you love only me?" Then he lowered his eyes and spoke in a seductive voice. "Do you want to try the strength of the table in the morgue?" His eyes glinted dangerously.

"Mm, as tempting as it sounds–not, I would rather test the strength of our bed later." Lan Wangji kissed Wei Wuxian's nose. "And I would rather that no one see you naked. That privilege belongs to only me."

"So possessive, Lan Zhan." Wei Wuxian purred and gave him a peck on the lips. "Let's see if we can finish this quickly and have fun back at home."

"Mm, let's do your thing then."

They entered the precinct and met with the detective in charge of the case, who brought them to the morgue. He didn't look that pleased when the Police Commissioner himself called his boss–the captain–to let two civilians see the body. And also the bodies of the other two who died in a span of a week.

The multiple deaths caused a huge commotion in their small community, and he had a lot of pressure to catch the perp as soon as possible, so he guessed that that was the reason why the captain wanted these cases to be solved fast–even if they had to use the help of the two strangers.

One of the strangers–the one in white shirt and jeans–was very handsome. His face was so familiar he remembered seeing him somewhere. The other one–the one in all black–exuded some kind of a dangerous aura, he literally could see a crow loomed over his head.

Wait a minute.

That was a real crow that was looming over the man's head–watching him with his deep, dark eyes, as if it knew his deepest darkest secret, and the way it looked at him… so calm… so steady… making him want to surrender to the dark eyes… and…

"Xiao Hei." The man in all black snapped his fingers and he was jolted back to reality. He saw the crow fly to the man and perched comfortably on his shoulder–dark eyes were still following his every move. Then the man in black looked at him with his brilliant silver eyes and smiled. "Forgive me for my… companion's behavior. This is the first time in a very long time that he went outside. Right, Xiao Hei?" He scratched the crow's head and the detective swore he could hear the black crow purred happily.

"It–it's fine." He watched the other man in white, who didn't seem to be fazed by what just happened, as if it was their daily routine. "This way, please. Dr. Morte is already waiting for you guys." He hurriedly walked away from the two strange men and led them to the coroner, Dr. Morte, and let him take over.
