While Jingyi was playing house with the Weiss, Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian sneaked into their home and they quickly looked around for any sign of the cursed object.
They still had ot idea of what it was, but it should be something to do with the baby, and also, cursed objects always gave off a particular vibe that someone like Wei Wuxian would be able to detect easily.
"Hmm, this house is so perfect, I'm afraid to take a breath in case something will move." Wei Wuxian chuckled as he walked towars the baby room. "Bingo."
Lan Wangji followed his husband to see that the man was crouching down beside a vintage looking baby cradle.
It was obviously old, and it was carved with vines all along the edge, but there was also some kind of a writing on it that Wei Wuxian was trying to read.
"T… i… t… a… n… i…c. Titanic." He frowned then looked back at Lan Wangji. "I believe that this cradle was made from the remnant of the Titanic, and it would need the sacrifice of a certain number of people before it would heal the sick baby. I think."
"Correct. I read it from the ledger that this one looks normal, but it's actually bloodthirsty bastard." Lan Wangji moved closer and examined the cradle. "Can it be destroyed?"
Wei Wuxian reached alongside its seams and muttering something.
"I think, if I absorb the curse, I can destroy this cradle – with the risk of killing the baby, Max. What do you think?" Wei Wuxian tilted his head in question.
"Well, what do you think?" Lan Wangji held Wei Wuxian's hand. "I'm a dragon, and I don't concern myself with humans' affair. Of course I know what should be done. But what about you? You lived as a human practically all your life, so I guess you must know more about their… wants."
"If you put it that way, Lan Zhan, of course I symphatize with them. Their baby was dying and suddenly there was a way to cure him. If I was the father, I would do the same." He looked at the cradle with an unreadable expression in his eyes.
Then, a crow suddenly went into the house via the open window and it perched on Wei Wuxian's shoulder to give him the report.
Yes, of course Wei Wuxian planted his crows everywhere, especially when his loves ones were involved.
But judging from his expression after he listened to the crow's report, Lan Wangji could deduce that it was not a good one.
His husband's face turned hard, and his eyes went cold, and he lifted his hand to absorb the darkness that was permeating the cradle, before he crushed the cradle into pieces.
"Well, there's your answer, Lan Zhan." Wei Wuxian gritted his teeth.
"What changed your mind?" Lan Wangji asked him. He was curious what made his spouse changed his mind that fast.
Well, it should concern the kids back home since he recognized the crow that always perched on the branch in front of the house. It had a distinctive crooked beak that Lan Wangji was itching to fix, so yeah, he recognized it.
"The woman dared to insult Jingyi, and she tried to bribe him to give her juicy gossips about how I blackmailed you to marry me, because apparently it's impossible for two men to fall in love and get married since there are many good women out there." Wei Wuxian spoke with such a cold tone that sbowed that he was angry. "On top of that, she tried to breach into our bedroom. The gall of that human."
Lan Wangji only shrugged since he knew that humans were originally selfish, conceited, and entitled beings, so he didn't really have a qualm about another one or two or ten dying. They would sprout up again tenfolds in no time anyway.
"Good for you to realize it early that humans are good for nothing creature." Lan Wangji took Wei Wuxian into his arms and kissed him. "Now, shall we go back to our place to save Jingyi?"
