"So, you're saying that you ate the mother and Jingyi ate the father?" Wei Wuxian sighed while adult Xiao Bai picked her teeth with a toothpick, and Jingyi dried his wet hair. "And that Jingyi is actually an imoogi?"
"That woman tasted foul." Xiao Bai spit a ball of hair out of her mouth and rolled her eyes. "And too much hair. Ugh."
Wei Wuxian didn't know how to respond to her aside from looking at the ball of hair and wished for it to just disappear from his sight.
"Can I eat the kid?" Xiao Bai suddenly turned her attention to Max, who fell asleep despite all the commotion around him.
"Can you… Lan Zhan, a little help here please?" Wei Wuxian sighed as he tried to get his husband to help.
His husband – who looked at the bloodied rug like it was a ruined priceless treasure – was tsk-tsking in disappointment.
"Xiao Bai, I told you not to eat unhygienic stuff. Haven't I provided you with enough fresh Kobe beef directly flown from Japan daily?" He picked at what looked like a piece of skin from the rug with his gloved hand. "And on top of this rug of all places. Do you know how hard it is to clean a real fur rug from blood? I specifically told Jingyi to buy this particular rug because I love it, and there you go making it your lunch mat."
"Haish, you guys…" Wei Wuxian slapped his own forehead in exasperation.
"I mean it, Xiao Bai, or else I will give you heavy punishment for eating such junk food."
Wei Wuxian massaged his eyes, as he recalled the same thing that Lan Wangji said to him back when they were first meeting each other. Such a fun day.
"You're such a meanie!" Xiao Bai suddenly turned back into a little girl and she ran up to her room – followed by Xiao Hei.
"Okay, enough drama, beasts. Now, I'd like to propose something regarding the boy, Max." Wei Wuxian walked to the stroller and reached inside to take Max out. "So, I am kinda attached to this boy, and I would like to take him home and adopt him, what do you think, Lan Zhan?" He looked at Lan Wangji who suddenly turned serious and nodded at Jingyi. "...is what you expect us to say, right?"
With one swift move, Wei Wuxian suddenly threw Max to the direction of the pool and no one batted an eye.
Then a few moments later, a man with greenish-skin and scales, with long muddy hair and mouth full of teeth – appeared from the water. His lower part was like a fish and he was obviously not human.
"Guys, meet nøkker, a Scandinavian mermaid – in this case, a merman. Not as pretty as the sirens, but they are as lethal. Oh and they are shapeshifters."
"How did you know?" The merman who was disguised as Max just now, grinned, and the sight was not pretty.
"Well, for one, you didn't really smell like a real baby. Instead of smelling like baby powder, you smell like dirty water. And with all the water death and the fake cribs from Titanic? Puhleeze." Wei Wuxian shook his head in disappointment. "But the worst thing was the way you played Marie Weiss into some kind of a racist, homophobic, gossiper who had a crazy fixation toward my husband. That's a bit overkill, don't you think?"
"You… who are you? How come you can smell me? I've perfectly disguised myself and no one ever found out!" The merman suddenly became distressed and they all could see how the skin on top of his heart suddenly became redder and redder and the veins bulged out and climbed up to his neck and his face – making him looked like a demon who was on the verge of exploding.
"What's that?" Jingyi whispered to Lan Wangji who shook his head in confusion.
This was also the first time that he saw that kind of thing happen. Like someone had planted something inside of the merman.
Something like a bomb.
"Get down!" Lan Wangji grabbed Jingyi and Wei Wuxian and he cast the barrier skill at the merman to prevent whatever was going to happen to him – just a few seconds before the merman went splat inside the now red barrier.
"What was that?" Jingyi asked one more time, this time he was referring to the blood-spattered sphere where Lan Wangji cast the protective barrier to prevent the bomb from destroying their surroundings.
"That," Wei Wuxian suddenly sounded so serious, "is definitely a bomb." Then he looked at Lan Wangji. "It seems that there's a new player in town."
To be continued…
