'All right. We shall see', Bob replied.

The atmosphere shifted as the mysterious shadow bender took to the seat. All in the court hushed themselves, reading themselves to hear the final case and sunset was nearing to a close. In the corners, cameraman and news reporters were stoic and wareful of any moment, prepared to make thai case one worthy of being in historical media ranging from books, journals, radio, television and a buffet of varieties.

The judge inhaled deeply, zoning into her mind to clear all her personal issues, stresses, overwhelming emotions , finally summing up the words of the final verdict.

'As for the great genius and well known scientist, Bob. The final verdict has been delivered.

He has been found guilty. He shall be sentenced to death!', she announced.

'Wait! What is this? This cannot be so! Your Honour, please give him a lighter sentence, I implore you! ', a woman cried.

'Hi, Mary. Please, do not weep for me. Don't worry because there is always a way', Bob said.

The judge signed the sheet and snapped the nib of the pen, making the ultimate regrettable choice.

'Please, as my final request, please care for my dearest pet lizard and help out my family in my stead. I cannot afford to allow my home to crumble without my fortress presence.', Bob said, making his final request to Mary, his assistant.

The police officers dragged Bob by the arms and goading him to move and forcing him to hurry out of the room. They walked past the witnesses who tossed garbage, some spat on him and others cheered aloud. The rest looked at Bob with apathy compared to Mary who wept deeply.

Outside the courtroom, birds observed the scene in the skies, by the window frames and some peering while perching on tree branches. The civilians lived their lives as usual.

As for Bob, his self esteem crumpled as severely as the Tower of Babel shaken to dust. His composure was as flimsy as a weak tent, realising the fact that his mission failed and there was nothing he could do in his power to turn back time and erase the fact that he was bound to walk into the jaws of the beast named death.

The writing was on the wall.
