"Think again."

You stared down in shock at the boy who had almost the exact features of your lover.

"Who the fuck are you?" Carlos growled, shoving in front of you. "Tried to shoot me, huh?"

The boy laughed through grit teeth, clutching his stomach.

"I had to see if the rumors were true - if there really was someone with the power to manipulate moving objects." He appraised Carlos, raising an eyebrow at his slightly ripped shirt, caused by the long journey. "And I know exactly who you are. Why, in fact, I'm shocked you don't recognize me. Although I did always seem to live in my brother's shadow," he added, perfect lips curling into a snarl.

"What's your name?" you managed to ask, peering around Carlos' shoulder. The boy smirked, taking his time before responding.

"Carlos. It's a pleasure."

Your brain spun as Carlos - Lucía's Carlos - shook his head vehemently.

"I'm Carlos." You rolled your eyes at his boyish manner before suddenly he was gripping your hand and pulling you away.

"No," he breathed, his voice barely above a whisper.

"Yes," Carlos #2 laughed, forcing himself to his feet. "You really thought I would stay hidden away forever? I wanted to congratulate my dearest brother - he finally got the girl. My girl."

Carlos hid behind you, gripping your shoulders tightly.

"Send him behind the barrier."

"What?" you asked, stumbling over your words. "Who - I-"

"NOW!"

Startled by the trembling fear leeching into his usually calm, droning voice, you shot your hands forward and send Carlos #2 flying behind the barrier. No longer fearful, your friend strode forward and glared down at the boy groaning on the ground.

"How did you figure all this out?" he questioned angrily, his fists clenched at his sides. "WHO TOLD YOU?!"

Carlos #2 lounged almost carelessly behind the invisible wall separating his from the two of you. He had to be feeling weaker by the second, but he didn't show it. The bullet must not have burrowed too deep, your power lessened by the distance.

"(Y/N)'s father was very helpful. Still seems to like me better, even after all this time," he added with a laugh.

"Carlos," you shouted, storming towards him.

"What?" the two boys asked in unison, before glaring daggers at each other. Well... Carlos #1 glared daggers, while the mysterious new boy simply grinned lopsidedly.

"Who is he, and what is going on?"

"Camilo's twin," Carlos spit, like the words tasted bad. You froze as he continued talking, your limbs turning heavy and leaden. "He ran away after blowing up Lucía's childhood home when they were 7. They had to run to the field and roll on the ground two they didn't burn to death."

Your heart nearly froze in your chest.

"She never told me that," you whispered, even as another thought tickled the back of your mind.

Camilo never told me he had a twin.

"Probably because she didn't like to talk about it." Your mind flashed back to Camilo's room, when you looked into Lucía's glassy eyes and saw that her deepest fear was her family lying dead in a field. Well, this explained it. "And," he added in a whisper, so the grinning boy didn't hear, "your father arranged you to be wed to him right before that happened. You were only six, but he did it anyway. Camilo told me he heard Pepa chatting with Julieta about it, but she never told him."

You drew away for a moment, heart racing.

"This can't be true." The words flew out of your mouth, and you shook your head futilely.

"It doesn't matter," your friend insisted. "We'll find your father and ask him..." he paused, seeming to realize his enemy was still listening. "We'll ask him the questions."

"Well," Carlos said with an unsettling smile, his demon-like eyes settling on yours. "That might just be an issue."

"And why is that?" you asked exasperatedly, throwing your hands out at your sides. Who did this devil-boy think he was? He had nearly killed your friend, and you certainly weren't going to be helping him out. He could find his way down the mountain on his own.

"Because I killed him."
