"It's Luisa! She's dead!"
Everyone froze, the momentary distraction the only thing keeping them from comprehending everything.
"Mirabel! Help!"
You started running back to Casita, ignoring the screaming pain in your leg and limping as quickly as possible over to the rest of the Madrigal family. Mirabel was crouched next to a bent Luisa, her legs and neck twisted at odd angles.
"Please, please, please..." It took you a moment to realize the whispers came from you as Lucía quickly slid her hands under your arms, catching you from falling backwards. You hadn't slept in days, and the sudden onslaught of exhaustion was making your bones feel hollow and your chest empty.
Mirabel stood up a few moments later, and Luisa slowly sat up. Everyone let out a relieved breath, and Julieta hastily fed her an arepa. Jude snatched one, running over to Isabela, who tore into it in an animal-like manner, her stomach filling out to a much more healthy degree due to the magic food.
Antonio ate one as well, and everyone relaxed. Delores was standing in the corner, horror and guilt written clearly on her face. You pushed away from Lucía to comfort her, stumbling over the swirling ground. Odd noises pounded in your ears - people were talking. Were they? You couldn't tell what was real or fake anymore.
"(Y/N)!" Your eyes snapped open, and you found yourself staring up into the eyes of Camilo. He breathed a sigh of relief, pressing his forehead against yours and closing his eyes. You vaguely realized that you were in a comfortable bed - Camilo's.
"What's happening?" you whispered, voice hoarse. "How did I get here?"
Camilo opened his eyes again, the beautiful hazel ovals filling with tears.
"It's alright, (Y/N). Calm down. It's ok," he said comfortingly as you struggled to sit up. He carefully wrapped his hands around both your arms, pushing you back into a sleeping position.
"Camilo?" you asked again, panic setting in. "What happened? Is everyone ok?"
"Everyone's fine," he promised, but you couldn't tear your gaze away from his tear-stained eyes.
"Why are you crying?"
"Oh, Cariño," he whispered, his voice turning husky as he swallowed hard. "Don't worry about me, ok? I was just afraid... for you. That you would be... upset. When you woke up. Or hurt, or confused, or... never mind."
"So everything's ok?" you asked softly, and he reached out to take your hand gently.
"Everything's perfect. And, (Y/N)?"
"Hmm?" you asked, struggling to keep your eyes open.
"I'm sorry. For everything I did. All I've ever done is ruin your life - first I caused you to die, then I tried to kill you once, and then I did it again. I-"
"You we're under my mother's control," you protested quickly. "And the first time was my decision. I wanted to save you."
"I don't care - it still happened. Which is why..." He paused, taking a deep breath. "I don't think we should do this anymore."
"Do what?" you asked slowly, fear creeping into your bones. "Do what, Camilo?"
He looked anywhere but your face, his grip on your hand tightening before he reluctantly pulled away.
"You shouldn't be around me anymore. We're breaking up."
