Forever Loved (Tenrose Fanfiction)

1: Kasterborous

The Doctor's POV

After checking Rose over for human and alien diseases with a sonic scan, we board the TARDIS again.

'So where do you want to go?' I ask her, as she dumps her bags on the floor near the door.

Rose bites her lip and something inside me leaps. She's so beautiful.

Stop, My mind says to me. You can't love her. You can't love anyone. You will only lose her.

Deep inside, however much I hate it, I know my mind is right.

'Um, Doctor?' Rose grins, waving a hand in front of my face. 'Don't fall asleep on me! Thought Time Lords could go weeks without sleep anyway!'

I straighten myself up again. 'So where do you want to go?' I repeat.

Rose laughs. 'I know Gallifrey is...gone,' she says slowly, knowing I am sensitive on the subject of my home. I tense up slightly. 'But is there any chance we can go to Kasterborous? The constellation Gallifrey was in?' For a moment I don't reply and her face darkens with guilt. 'Sorry,' she murmurs.

Suddenly I shake my head. 'No, no, it's fine. Let's go.' I enter the coordinates and flick the lever.

Her face lightens again and suddenly I remember something I have wanted to give her for a while.

Taking it in my hand, I walk up to Rose and place my hands on her shoulders.

'We're flying through time and space together...' I whisper, as the TARDIS shakes and whirrs as we fly. I'm captivated by her forest eyes, and I can't seem to stop myself from drowning in them.

'Forever?' she whispers in reply.

Never say forever, my mind warns me. But this time I don't think I'm going to listen.

'For as long as we possibly can,' I answer, and I fasten the pendant inscribed with Gallifreyan writing around her neck. Rose looks down at the pendant.

'What does it say?'

I lift it gently and kiss the pendant slowly, placing it back. 'It says: "I am with you forever". So whenever I leave you anywhere, whenever I'm not with you, you remember the message in this pendant and you remember that I am with you forever.'

The TARDIS lands and I take a deep breath, my face flushed. I've just done something I wanted to do for a long time.

Rose grins and runs to the door. She yanks it open and breathes out softly, realising we are in orbit right outside Kasterborous. 'I didn't realise...'

'What did you think a constellation was?' I laugh a little sadly. 'We can fly around a bit if you want. I can show you where Gallifrey used to be.'

We fly around the constellation filled with beautiful stars and I sadly remember how much better it was with Gallifrey.
