Rose's POV
I don't know why I said what I did. I guess it was just a heat of the moment type of thing. But I don't regret it, and I thought I would. I just wanted to know what the Doctor felt. But I still don't really know. He didn't answer me straight away. He probably thought I was more tough than that, that I could never love him because we were strictly best friends.
Were.
Thing is, I don't even know if we're that anymore.
Whatever is going on between us aside, we walk out of the TARDIS hand in hand. I notice we seem to have landed on a sort of moon-like planet. I say moon-like, but I know it isn't the moon. In fact, it's pretty much a duplicate of the Earth, but darker and more miserable in a way.
'Doctor, where are we?' I ask, looking up at him. There's a look of utter confusion on his face. 'We can't be...' he mutters. Suddenly his head jerks up and he looks at me. 'We physically can't be here! This planet is lost!'
He rushes back into the TARDIS and I follow him, frowning. 'Doctor, where the hell are we?'
'This used to be Earth's twin planet, years and years ago. And then when the Moon formed, its position in space was shifted and it became lost. It's been gone so long that scientists, they just...forgot about it. Gave up on it,' explains the Doctor. Then suddenly his whole face collapses and he stares at me.
Eyes wide, he says, 'And the last time I was here, this was the home planet of, of-- the Cybermen.' A gasp escapes my lips and I force myself to shake my head, stay calm.
'But the TARDIS wouldn't send us somewhere dangerous,' I say. 'You said the nav-com was on, and so were the safeguards. So we couldn't have landed here.'
The Doctor shrugs. 'There's a chance that the Cyberman race has gone. How, I don't know. Been wiped out, killed or just died of natural causes. I guess that's the only logical reason the TARDIS sent us here - because it's empty. Unless there was a malfunction.'
He's about to start tapping on his computer thing when I grab his arm. 'You still haven't answered my question. Where are we?'
Sucking in a breath, and loosening his arm from my grip, he tells me:
'Mondas.'
***
After a long wait while he checks that it's completely safe for us to be on Mondas, we come out of the TARDIS again and out onto Mondas. I can tell the Doctor is still very cautious, and I nearly laugh at it. But I stop myself, because I know the Cybermen are dangerous. If they came back now, I might end up dead. No laughing matter.
There's something I need to do, though. Something I need to ask the Doctor to do. Something that will help me to work out what he really feels.
'Doctor,' I start hesitantly. He turns his head and raises his eyebrows. 'Will you kiss me? Will you kiss me if I ask you?'
But I don't even need an answer, because my lips are already on his.
A/N kinda cliffhanger I guess, they're stuck on Mondas with no idea how they got there since it's lost (apparently) and the danger of Cybermen everywhere. What's gonna happen? *cue "oooo"s* My phone just autocorrected that to 'ooood' XD
