y/h/t--your hometown

"And I'm Y/n of the...humans, I guess?" you cock your head to the side.

"How is that supposed to prevent me from hurting you?" Starscream scoffs.

"Well...I'm not dead yet," you mutter. You wonder if Starscream gets the Monty Python reference.

There's a little bit more back and forth banter until Starscream seems to relax and inquires about who you are.

"I'm Y/n, I told you," you answer. "I'm from y/h/t and I've lived in Nevada for a few years."

"Do you align yourself?" the Decepticon inquires, studying you.

"What do you mean? Like politically?"

"Autobot or Decepticon," Starscream clarifies.

You're a little afraid that the wrong answer could set Starscream off, but you're also not at all involved with any transformer so...

"Neither," you shrug.

"Hm," Starscream hums.

~big ol time skip let's call it like 2 weeks brought to you by raycon~

It's been a while and Starscream is now something of a friend to you. He acts quite out of character around you, if I do say so myself. He speaks calmly near you, is gentle with you, and not as self-centered around you.

One would almost go as far to say he doesn't mind you. I know, you think I'm jumping the shark, but trust me, he might even...*whispers* like you. As a friendly companion of course.

One day after school, you drive over to the spot where you and Starscream met, now your usual spot to meet him. You take one step out of your car and Starscream greets you with a cold, "you're late."

"Only by three minutes, jesus," you roll your eyes.

"Heh," Starscream smiles a bit. "Well, human, what would you like to do today?"

"Funny you should ask," you smirk at the Decepticon. "Remember how you said you didn't know what emo music was?"

"Vaguely," Starscream muses, sitting down in front of your car as you grab something from inside and climb up to the roof of it.

"I think you'd really like it, so I made a four hour playlist with all the essentials," you grin, holding up your phone and a bluetooth speaker.

"Four hours? Do you not have better things to do?" Starscream looks bemused.

"No."

"Hm."

You decide to warm Starscream up with the basics, MCR's "Welcome to the Black Parade".

"This is slow and boring, human," Starscream complains thirty seconds in.

"Listen to the lyrics then, dumbass," you scoff.

...

It's been a few songs and Starscream has warmed up to the genre. Now it's time to whip out the big guns, "In The End" by Linkin Park.

The intro starts and by the Decepticon's dramatic inhale and look into the distance, you can tell he likes it.

"I...relate to the lyrics. How did the human perfectly articulate my feelings?!" Starscream snaps his head over to you and leans in a little bit, waiting for the secret to Linkin Park's lyrical genius.

"Well...we all feel like that sometimes," you reply with a little smile. "That's what this whole genre is about. We all feel like absolute garbage sometimes and there are just some artists whose music describes it immaculately."

"But this song...it speaks to me."

"You and every edgy 13 year old."

Starscream considers slapping you to the arctic circle, but the chorus of the song is playing, and then it has the audacity to stop.

"What? It's already over?" Starscream rages. "I wasn't ready for it to be over!"

"Yup, that's how it goes," you lay on your back as a Panic! At The Disco song plays that reminds you of the days when you first discovered emo as a lonely 6th grader.

The playlist keeps playing until the sun goes down, then you realize you have to leave before your parents really yell at you for not getting home in time.
