Going out in full alternative getup isn't always the best decision, but sometimes you really feel it.

You've had some errands to run, and just as many eyebrows quirked at your choice in style. After so many years in the scene, looks don't bother you so much anymore. You're just gracing everyone with seeing a baddie.

You mill leisurely through the grocery store. No need to rush.

As you step through the produce, you grab your phone from your pocket to answer a text, unknowingly dropping some cash.

Soon after, you notice someone slowly trailing behind you. You round a corner into another aisle and he's always a few feet away. Bizarre.

For a moment, you stand in one spot long enough to grab a box of crackers for the man to approach you.

"Excuse me," a smooth, British voice comes from beside you.

"Yeah?" you keep your tone flat.

"You dropped some money, my dear," the older man holds out 40 bucks pinched in his fingers. "It's almost enough to get you some eggs." He smiles a bit at his little joke.

You offer a polite smile in return and take the cash. "Thanks."

"And, might I say, I do quite like your Black Sabbath shirt. I myself saw Ozzy Osbourne in his younger days a few times.. may he rest in peace."

"Yeah, big loss. Thanks, I appreciate it."

"I used to look cool too, many moons ago. Back when I had the stamina to withstand a mosh pit, at least," he nods. "Sabbath played with Judas Priest once in 1983."

"That's a damn good show," you perk up a bit.

"It made me a better man."

"No doubt."

"During my time in the SAS, we used to use Iron Maiden songs to time marches and flights," the man's expression becomes nostalgic. "Lovely to see youngsters still enjoying our old music."

"Y'know, that's the only reason I wear band shirts," you smile. "Everyone's got a story with the groups. It's always cool to hear them."

"Indeed it is," he checks his watch. "But I must get going. Very good to meet you, my dear. Do rock on."

You smile. "Thank you, sir. You too."

Your companion nods before walking away and quickly checking out.

That was cool.
