Mikey never felt so bad in his life. First, he messed things up when he asked Y/n about her past, and now he wasn't able to be there for her when she needed yet again.

Yes, he saw what happened between her and Raph. Truth to be told, he wanted to be the one who was comforting her, not his hot-headed brother. He wanted to make things right, but he still hasn't found a way to do so.

Also, he wants to make her more comfortable around him. But again, he has no idea of how he can do that.

"... Wait... What if I..." Just then it's like a light bulb shows above his head. "That's it!"

Timeskip

The orange masked turtle knocks on Y/n's window, while hplding a little surprise behind his back.

And soon enough, she shows up and opens the window. "What the-- Mikey?"

"Hey, Y/n. What's up?"

"Not much. What are you doing here?"

"Well, I was back home thinking and I thought you might like this." He says before pulling up a pizza box and a bag with a big bottle of soda and some bars inside.

"Wha... Mikey, you shouldn't have done this. I mean, I love it. But I'm afraid I don't see why you're doing this."

He lets out a sigh. "Look, I just... I wanted to apologize for what happened that day in the kitchen. I didn't mean to upset you, I just wanted to get to know you a bit better. I wanted to understand you and your uncle, and maybe be there for you. I wanted to be a better friend to you, at least better than I was. I should've read the room better. I noticed it bothered you to talk about your past, but I still wanted to know more. And... To be honest, I... Kinda got jealous."

Y/n frowns as she also tilts her head a bit to the side. "Why?"

"*Sighs* I saw you and Raph the other day, and how he comforted you. I wanted to be the one to comfort you, not the one that hurt you. Also, I don't get it. Why was it easier for you to talk to Master Splinter about it than it's been to the rest of us? You don't have to answer right now, but I only wanted you to know how I feel. I'm worried about you, Y/n. And since you're one of the few friends I have, you're important to me. So if you need me, I'll be there."

Her eyes widen before she sobs a bit, which makes Mikey panic a bit.

"Y/n?! I-I-I'm sorry! I swear I didn't mean to make you cry!"

He stops his rambling as he sees her shaking her head.

"It's okay, Mikey. I'm just... Relieved. To know I have such wonderful friends."

"Phew. Thank goodness. For a second I thought I made you cry again, and if I did, Master Splinter and the others would kill me."

She laughs a bit before gesturing him to get inside her room, so he complies. Once inside, he sets aside his little gifts and turns all his attention back to her.

He doesn't say anything. He just stays there waiting for her to say something. And after a while, she does speak up after wiping away some tears from her cheeks.

"I'm sorry, Mikey. It's just--"

"You don't have to apologize, dudette. Now I get it."

"... Do you?"

He nods. "Now I understand that your pain is like Master Splinter's. So talking to him about what happened to you is easier than talking to us." Then, he takes her hands on his and squeezes them gently. "I just want you to know that if you ever need someone to talk to, and the others are too busy, I'll be happy to help. So don't cry anymore, okay? Your smile is so much prettier than your frown."

His comment managed to steal a giggle out of her, and he opens a triumphant grin. He finally managed to make her smile.

.................... WTF?!! I post one chapter and I get 1k reads just like that?! And such a ranking too?!!
I mean, I don't mean to complain, but...Why y'all like this story so much?!!
(Also, I took these pics a while ago so the number of reads and ranking probably changed by the time I've posted this)
And yes, I am working on some  chapters, that's why you can read there are 16 parts, not just the 14 chapters that I've posted so far.
