Their exam went well, we can say that. Sunoo still shaking and sunghoon keep on assuring him that he did well but sunoo doesn't even spare a glance on him.
'not today.' sunoo thinks as he opened his book again and starts reading it
"Don't pressure yourself sunoo, don't let anyone control you." sunghoon said but sunoo doesn't care about what he's saying
"I'm sorry sunghoon, but can we be classmates, classmates like before just for today? can we do that?" sunoo ask and sunghoon feels so relieved as sunoo finally talks to him again so sunghoon immediately nod and go back to his seat
Sunghoon is impulsive on making decision, once he choose a decision then it will be the final no matter what. And for today the decision he made wasn't for his self but for sunoo.
He chose not to ace it.
and now the question change...
would sunoo like it if he finally knew it?
Their teacher finally announced the scores of everyone but as usual sunoo and sunghoon's test paper would be in the last.
"The one who aced our exam is Kim Sunoo." their teacher announces and everyone cheer for him, sunoo is so happy finally his hardwork payed off
or maybe not?
He saw sunghoon genuinely smiling at him so he smiled back too, he's now happy, he really is. Their teacher immediately get out and sunoo's confused on how their teacher didn't announce sunghoon's score
"Congrats" sunghoon said while smiling and sunoo can't hide his flushed cheeks so he smiled back again, he wants to fix their relationship
Especially he can finally prove to his brother that sunghoon's not someone who will betray or use your weaknesses.
"Let's meet at the seaside, i miss you" sunoo admits and sunghoon immediately got shy and try to hide his face but sunoo just teased him
They're now back being happy, being comfortable with each other. It's the best feeling ever. Sunghoon can finally saw the love and adoration on sunoo's eyes again.
Sunghoon immediately go home not minding anything all that matters to him today was sunoo's happines. He opened their door and revealed his father who looks clearly waiting for him.
'oh fuck' that's all can sunghoon say as he realized his deal with his father
"Your business partner would come here anytime so be-" he cut his father's words by kneeling
"YA PARK SUNGHOON! WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU KNEELING?!" his father asked, he looks so confused
"I- i didn't ace the e-exam" his father almost choke by what he just heard
"W-what? don't fucking lie sunghoon, go get ready your business partner would be here." his father said forgetting what he just heard earlier
"I'm sorry dad-" sunghoon didn't get the chance to finish his words when his father slapped him
"YOU SHIT! THAT'S THE ONLY THING YOU CAN DO FOR ME YET YOU DIDN'T SUCCESSFULLY DO IT!?" his father said as he punched his own son
Sunghoon can feel the blood dripping from his lips but he didn't care. He can't feel any physical pain anymore.
His father started hitting him, he take it all the punch, the kicks, the slap and the worst, hurtful words...
it "You're so useless!" hurts "Why did you even became my child?" more "You're just bringing disgrace on this family!" than "Why did i even trust you on this!?" a "You're stupid and can't do anything!" punch.
All that matters to him was 'as long as sunoo is happy'
you ask what can love do? well i bet it was powerful.
No matter how much his body hurts right now he still moves and went to the seaside because he knows his lover is waiting for him. And when he did, he saw sunoo standing while looking at the moon. Sunghoon immediately smile as he saw sunoo slowly looking at him but his smile fades when his eyes...
'why does it look like before!?'
'or maybe i'm wrong, yes i'm just wrong!'
He runs to him and smiled but sunoo is just looking at him plainly...
"Why did you do it?" sunghoon got taken a back at the sudden question
"Why do you have those bruises?" another question
"Do you pity me, sunghoon?"
"Sunghoon... why!?" sunoo finally lets his tears fall
Before going to the seaside he went to the teachers office to ask what sunghoon score is but he got shocked when his teacher said sunghoon passed a blank paper inshort he didn't answer the exam. After knowing it he's now questioning him self...
'did he do it because i told him i need to ace my exam!?'
'WHY!? does he fucking pity me!?'
Those are the questions that has been lingering on sunoo's mind
"You said you need to ace it..." sunghoon answers while looking down
"I DIDN'T FUCKING ASK FOR YOUR HELP WHY!? SUNGHOON YOU MADE ME LOOK REALLY STUPID, YOU MADE ME LOOK DUMB!" sunoo said while sobbing
"I did it because you... your brother" sunoo stopped crying as he hears it
"Don't meddle with my life sunghoon." sunoo answered while shaking his head
"I wanted to help you."
"YOU CAN'T EVEN HELP YOURSELF SUNGHOON!? LOOK AT YOU!" sunoo shouts while pointing the bruises
He won't ask where did he got it because he knows it was not meeting his father's expectations. That's it.
"We both needed to ace it! we should have do it fairly." sunoo starts while tears keep on falling, he's hurting because of what sunghoon had through just so he can help him
He can't bare to see sunghoon hurting, he can't never.
"You know what... let's end it here." sunoo said while smiling and sunghoon just cried, no matter how much he tries to change sunoo's mind... sunoo won't.
if it's for the better then why not choose it?
so sunghoon can't do nothing but to accept it, he promised to respect sunoo's opinion even though it will hurt him.
"Can i kiss you... for the last time?" sunghoon asked while tears keep on falling and sunoo just nod while crying too
Sunghoon slowly leans in and captured sunoo's lips, the kiss was bittersweet that they can even taste their own tears. The kiss... their last kiss.
Sunoo pulled out and just like that everything change. Both of them lost each other and their friendship as well.
Funny how the beach witnessed it all from the very first time to the last one, the beach is their only witness.
