Today, Shadow, Rouge and I were sent on a mission from G.U.N. It was supposed to actually be enjoyable until they sent another hedgehog along with us, Scourge.

Apparently G.U.N thought it would be best to bond with Scourge, especially after what happened. Of course, Shadow was quick to reject this thought but we didn't have a choice anyway.

Now, the four of us are on a search for a chaos emerald. The Freedom Fighter's only managed to obtain 4, not counting Knuckles master emerald, and the other 3 were yet to be found. Our job was to make sure they don't get in Eggman's grasp before us.

The mission obviously wasn't as simple as that. Our team argued pretty much the whole time and Scourge was not stop flirting with me. Rogue found it quite amusing but I had no idea why.

"Heya, toots. Would ya ever wanna go out sometime?" Scourge grinned. I swear this is like the fourth time he's asked me and I've rejected him every time. He just doesn't take the hint! As I was about to speak up, Shadow took me by surprise when he answered for me, furiously.

"She said no the last time, Scourge. Stop bothering her." He growled. Rogue raised a brow but then held a sly smirk on her face. Scourge rolled his eyes and continued to walk alongside me.

"How far are we?" I tried to break the tension.

"Unfortunately, we still have a bit to go, hun. But I think it's more painful for Shadow than do you." Rogue chuckled. Shadow shot her a glare. I giggled with Rogue but I failed to understand what she truly meant.

"Tell ya what, you go on a date with me and I'll stop annoying ya." Scourged winked towards me. I was about to finally give in when Shadow literally snapped and shoved Scourge to the ground.

"CAN YOU BACK THE FUCK OFF?! Do you not understand what 'no' means?!" Shadow hissed as he held him in the dirt. Scourge just held a blank expression but laughed when he looked back at Shadow and I.

"Oh! I get it. You got a little crush, huh, Shadow?" Scourge stood up and wiped the dirt off his chest. Rogue pulled me aside as if she knew Shadow was going to explode.

"That's even crazier than you trying to go on a date with, Y/N." Shadow huffed as he folded his arms. Typical response, but....is he blushing?

"Really? Why ya so defensive then? I'm just trying to claim what's mine." Scourge chuckled. As I was about to blast him into space, Shadow stomper over to him and started beating the living daylight out of him.

I was amused with the first few punches but I started to feel bad after I saw Scourge being thrown around with no mercy. Rogue and I exchanged looks as we both agreed this needed to stop.

"Hey, handsome! Put Scourge down we have a mission to do!" Rogue yelled. Shadow completely ignored her and continued to throw more punches. Jeez, at this point Scourge is going to have permanent damage...

The only sound Scourge made was groans. While Shadow just grunted whenever he hit the puke stained hedgehog. It was actually getting sad to look at. I really needed to find a way to calm Shadow down but I don't know how.

"Shadow! Please!" I begged. He glanced at me but only continued to resume what he was doing.

"Shadow! I don't want to watch you kill someone!" I cried. This seemed to get Shadow's attention as he finally pulled away from Scourge. Frowning, he shoved Scourge into the dirt and gazed back at me.

"Shadow..." I murmured. He had a hurt expression on his face as he looked at what he just did. I started to walk over to him but he backed away.

"Please, Y/N. I don't want to hurt you." Was Shadow...scared? The Ultimate Lifeform? I had never seen him so vulnerable before...

"You won't, Shadow. Just don't leave." I tried to reach out for him but only for him to back away even further. Rogue walked behind me and tried the same thing but it was no use. I could've sworn I saw tears in Shadow's eyes as he pulled a chaos emerald out. My eyes widened.

"Shadow! No-"

"Shadow! We have a mission-"

"CHAOS CONTROL!"

With that, Shadow left us stranded in the woods, and not just that but also with a half-dead unconscious hedgehog on the ground. Sounds familiar, right?

Rogue and I sighed in sync as we knelt down to Scourge. Thankfully, he was still breathing but I honestly think Shadow did more damage than the scars in his chest. A lot more.

I had never seen him so scary before...what got into him? Could he have been triggered by past events? I knew he had PTSD with the Maria situation but I didn't think it could bring him into situations this bad.

"He's not breathing steadily. We'll have to postpone the mission for now." Rogue pulled out her communicator as she called for backup and explained our current predicament. I only hoped they'd take it easy on Shadow.

After all, I  had no idea what G.U.N was capable of...
