Emma, Rikki, and I were swimming. Cleo was at her job. Then Lewis's phone rang, and he gave it to Emma. 

"I know, but I just don't see how I can have the party this year. Not with recent developments" said Emma, I know what they're talking about. Emma has a party every year. Just for fun, to celebrate the new year and stuff. 

And this year....well...this year is different. 

"Your new job. The dolphin tank, at the marine park?" asked Emma

"The what?" Lewis and I asked 

"Ok, just a second" I said, as I dove in, then swam back up quickly, getting in Lewis's boat, drying myself off and returning to my human form, and taking a seat next to Lewis. 

"Do you remember what water does to you?...Cleo, you can't have that jo-- Wait, Cleo! Ugh, she hung up" said Emma, giving the phone back to Lewis

"She's pretty stubborn sometimes" I said, Emma nodded. Lewis got out his book about mermaids and stuff again. 

"Do you really think that book's gonna help us?" I asked

"It's already told me you guys are hotter than your average mermaid, and they don't have cool water powers" said Lewis

"There's only one place where we can find answers to why we became mermaids" said Emma

"Mako Island. Moon pool, as I call it" I said

"That's where it happened" said Emma

"That's where the answers should be" I said

"Alright, well, I'll jut pull in my line" said Lewis

"No, not you, Lewis. We're faster on our own" said Emma

"Are you really sure that's a good I-.....Dea" started Lewis, but Emma left

"I should probably go too" I started, and was about to jump in, when Lewis grabbed my wrist "Can you at least stay with me? I barely know that island" 

I sighed "Ok"

"Looks like a normal necklace to me" said Lewis, looking at the necklace Emma found.

"Whatever was in it is long gone, but I found it at the bottom of the moon pool. It's got to be important" said Emma, Rikki was also over

"Maybe there's earrings that's supposed to match it" said Rikki

"I'm just trying to find answers here" said Emma

"Emma, chill. It's maybe just a random necklace that found it's way to the moon pool by water splashing around" I said

"Settle, ladies" said Lewis, he was testing what water could give us tails, and what water can't. 

"Emma, it still doesn't explain why you guys are mermaids. However, I think I've just about figured out which liquids won't turn you into fish" said Lewis, then sprayed some of the liquid to Rikki. 

"Lewis! What are you-- you think you're funny? Ewww what is that stuff?" asked Rikki

"4...3...2..." started Lewis, then took his notes. Because Rikki didn't grow a tail. 

"Mostly vegetable oil. No change. Interesting" said Lewis

Then Emma was on a call with her mother "I really don't think so, mom....ok, love you"

"Party?" I asked

"What party?" asked Rikki, turning around, and pausing her nail painting. 

"Every year my mom throws this party for me. Only, this year it's not happening. Can't have heaps of people, and drinks spilling, and tails appearing" said Emma
