Meet and greet

Carpooling with Tony as he drove them up to the new Avengers Facility, also known as the Compound, had been his idea after she'd left the Tower yesterday. Katherine was glad he'd suggested it because she really didn't want to have to pay for a cab to drive all that way. Sipping on her iced coffee she stared out the passenger window listening to music on her phone while her friend the billionaire made work calls for Stark Industries. She didn't mind at all since she was a little hungover from last night and wasn't feeling very chatty.

That still hadn't stopped her from being at the Tower bright and early with a large duffle bag packed to have breakfast with Tony and Pepper up in their penthouse to make up for her unavailability for lunch the day before. Keeping the topics of conversation light, Pep made sure to avoid talking about Rogers altogether so as to have a good start to her friends day. By the end of the meal Katherine felt a little bit better about the situation she'd found herself in. It had definitely helped that Thomas, Charlie and Mathew had shown up to her apartment last night with a large bottle of top shelf tequila, a bag of limes and a giant bag of tacos and all the fixings.

Come to find out every doubt and negative thought she'd had that day had been wrong. They didn't want to lose her, but Fury had been right in the fact that they were proud of her success in joining the illustrious Avengers. She'd told them to stay sharp because she'd be tagging them to join her every chance she got. By the end of the evening Katherine had given them all giant hugs in thanks for their continued support before they left so she could get to bed early.

So here she was in one of Tony's expensive ass sports cars zipping upstate to meet with her new permanent team. Seeing as today was more just a meet and greet she'd dressed down. She was still dressed nicely though in a pair of black jeans, a white and black sweater, black heeled booties, a black jacket and a pair of large black sunglasses. Maybe tomorrow she'd wear brighter colors, but today black really fit her mood.

Soon enough they arrived and made their way inside. Tony slung an arm around her shoulders as he directed them to the team's living quarters. "After the introductions we'll have you tour around our side of the building since you've already been through the rest."

"Sounds good." Sensing her earlier good mood had taken a dive he hugged her closer to his side. "I'm good, Stark. Just a little hungover is all. I really shouldn't have let Charlie egg me on. Not when it comes to tequila." She tenderly pats her stomach.

Feeling better that it wasn't Steve who'd soured her mood or at least not solely him Tony punched in the code to access their floor. It had been one of his better ideas after having too many unexpected guests try to sneak back into the Avengers apartments at the Tower. He blamed himself really, well the old him, Romanoff and Wilson. Leading her down a few hallways he found the team gathered at the large dining room table finishing up their breakfast. Speaking loud enough to get their attention he smiles down at her. "Alrighty here we are. Everyone, this is Katherine Blake, the newest asset to our team."

Pointing them out one by one even if she already knew some of them having worked with them before and the others by reputation. "You know Banner, Romanoff and Rogers. Thor is still off-world. Then we have the Maximoff twins, Pietro and Wanda. Vision, Sam Wilson and you know Parker already, but he had school."

"Nice to meet you all." She nods hello keeping her hands deep in her pockets grateful that they were all eating so she didn't have to shake hands. While she was grateful to have her new arm Katherine was still self conscious of how people would flinch when she shook their hands or be overly dramatic about how 'cool' it was.

After receiving several curious glances from the newer of the team members they all seemed to just accept that she would be joining their ranks. Directing her to sit at one of only available spots which happened to be between Rogers and Bruce, Tony went to make himself a cup of coffee while she got to know everyone. Nervous about her new job and how the team will treat her she made sure to keep her right arm fully covered with her hand squarely in her jacket pocket.
