Chapter 5: The Hospital

(The first weeks of October 2019)

*It's 2 am, and Skye is sitting in the waiting room nervously bouncing her leg. Sam and Zoey with her worried and holding hands*

*Skye's thoughts*

I don't really remember much. It's all a blur

I remember getting into the ambulance with Colby and watching Sam and Zoey's silhouettes rush to their car to follow the ambulance.

Then once we arrived, they rushed Colby to the ER and told me to wait in the waiting room and that they'll do everything that they can

"Hey, how are you doing," Zoey says while sitting down and breaking Skye out of her memories, then offering her a coffee

"I'm doing alright. I just wish they would tell us what's going on, and if he's seriously hurt, or if he's going to die," Skye says, starting to overthink and ramble on

"If anything, he'll just have a severe concussion, and they tell us to keep an eye on him," Zoey says reassuringly

"They should let us in to see him soon, and we've been here since 11 pm," Sam says with a slight worry in his voice, trying to bring more comfort to them

"Yea, I hope so" Zoey says, setting her hand down on top of Sam's

*They see a doctor walking towards them with a clipboard, so they all stand up with anticipation*

"Are you here for 'Cole Robert Brock'?" The doctor asks, flipping through a couple of pages

"Ye... Yes.." Skye says hesitantly

"Is Colby going to be alright???" Sam blurts out, concerned, tensing up, holding Zoey's hand

"Yes, he should be fine now." "We gave him some pain medication and stitches. He had a severe concussion and an abrasion on the right side of his forehead". "We're going to have to keep him overnight just to monitor his vitals and make sure he's on the right path to healing." "We only allow one person to stay overnight, but if you guys would like to see him now, you guys can." The doctor explains "Oh and closing hours are at 3:30 am".

*The doctor leads Skye, Sam, and Zoey down the long hallway down to room #114*

"Go right in. He should be awake about now, just don't turn the lights on, and he should be fine," The doctor informs them

*hospital monitor sounds*

*They slowly walk through the door, trying not to wake Colby if he's resting*

"Heyyy Colby, how you feeling, buddy?..." Sam says in a whispery tone, smiling

"Hey, guys..." Colby says in a weak raspy voice, sounding happy and trying to smile

"You feeling better?" Skye questions politely concerned

"Yea, a little, still dizzy from the meds they put me on," Colby replies slowly snuggling into his blanket and readjusting to face everyone

"It was kinda dumb for me to want to film a water fight video." "I shouldn't have mentioned the idea," Sam says, slightly blaming himself

"Oh guys, it's not your fault. We were just simply having fun" "It just happened." "Now what was stupid was to play dead in the pool pranking you guys," Colby says sighing
