Chapter 53: The Lesser Evil

(December 2021)

*It's been a month since Skye got home, Skye and Colby have been distant and haven't really talked about anything after the fight or even what happened to Skye in the forest*

*It's a week before Christmas and Colby and Skye make a mutual decision to go separately and visit there families*

"We can talk when we get home" "I know I've been distant lately, just there's been a lot of stuff on my mind" Colby explains packing his suitcase on their bed next to Skye's

"Okay" Skye shortly answers
"I hate being like this" Skye stops packing and looks at Colby

*Colby puts his clothes down and hugs her* *They hug longer then normal finally feeling together after awhile*

"Love you" She whispers

"Love you more" He pulls away

*They take separate flights one to Oregon and one to Kansas*
*Colby gets to Kansas while Skye gets to her parents house in Oregon* *Skye goes to the grocery store for a few things her parents asked her to get* *On the way there, her parent's car breaks down so she has to pull over on the side of the road*
*She calls her brother but he doesn't answer so she waits for him to get her voicemail and come get her*
*Her passenger car door opens and Zayne gets in*

"What the-?..." Skye gasps

"Yo, do you need help?" He smiles

"You are low key stalking me" "What...how did you know?" Skye grills him

"Does that really matter?" "I'm here and you need help" He laughs

"Not from you, my brother is coming and I don't need your help" Skye slightly huffs

*Zayne gets out and opens the hood*
*A few minutes later he closes it, wiping grease on a rag he pulls from his pocket* *He opens the driver door and leans on it*

"It's cold and I can get the part for your car at my house a few miles up the road" "Would you rather freeze your ass off or stay warm in my truck?" Zayne slyly remarks and turns around assuming she'll follow him

"Yeah sure, I'm totally going to willingly get in your car" Skye doesn't follow him

"What come on" Zayne holds his hands up
"I'm literally trying to save your ass" He chuckles

"You can't save me from shit" Skye snorts
"And you definitely can't fix my car"

"Oh is this what this is?" Zayne smirks "You honestly don't think I could fix your car?"
"Did your best friend ever tell you that I work in a shop"

"You mean my best friend-you fumbled, and no she didn't jackass" Skye rolls her eyes
"Uhg my brother never answered the phone anyway" Skye gets out of her car and shivers from the cold putting her thin jacket on

"So will you let me fix your car?" He smiles

"I guess so" Skye gets into his truck, a white ford

*She sends her location to Zoey without context just in case*
*It's quiet in the truck with country music on for background noise*
