If almost ten years ago someone would have asked me where I thought my career would end up, being the President's social media manager would not be where I thought I would end up. Fresh out of school and looking for a change of pace I joined a television production company to be a show-runner. I was put into the production of "Servant of the People", which became an overnight sensation. Through this experience, I began to become close with lead star and comedian Volodymyr Zelenskyy. I was lucky enough to follow him after the show ended, and when the campaign for President started. Together we were able to work through social media and interact with the voters one on one, to end up winning the election.
So being here with him now, in this time of need for our country just makes the most logical sense to me. We've already been through so much together. Plus, I want to help keep the people of Ukraine and the world informed about what is going on. Russia has already begun to shut down the only independent news agency, to try to keep their people brainwashed. There needs to be the truth out there. They might have the people and claim to have the power, but we are not going without a fight.
Since I have been around Volodymyr for so long, supporters of his have started to recognize me. These people like to joke that I am his biggest fan and supporter because I have always been seen in the background of photos and videos of the biggest moments since. I am, but that's because I believe in him and what he is doing. So, when he asked me if I wanted to get a ride out or stay with him the choice was simple: Stay and fight the war with him until the very last second.
By the middle of the second day, my whole life had been picked up and moved into the bunker that would be our home base until the end, unless they had to move us before then. Which is always a possibility. The room that I was assigned was nothing special. We did not sign up for a five-star resort, after all. Blank walls and a simple bed. Since I did have some seniority on the staff, I did get a single room, unlike most who had to bunk with other members.

Being the interactive social President, he did not let himself stop being that just because of the Russian invasion. With rumors flying that he has fled the country, it is important to show that he has not; that he is staying here with his people to fight the unwanted invasion. The first time he did this it went off without a hitch.
It was the second time that things started to set in for me about how he is the number one most wanted man in Ukraine. It's daylight and we have security, but it is mostly he and I that did this little video together, for me to post later online. I am in full gear because of direct orders for my safety, and he would be other than when he is recording the video.
The video was to tell our people that we are staying, that the government is still operating, and that we are not going to let the aggressors win. That jointly, we can get through this. It was more of a natural talk than one of planned wording. He is a natural entertainer by trade so speaking from the heart with a few key points to send a message across is nothing new. Something natural for him.
Once we had the short four-minute video there was a pop and screaming, men flooded to his sides, pushing him down. It all happened so fast, suddenly I was pushed down as well before there was another loud noise. He was not protected. I knew it was not the smartest thing to come out here and get this video, but it made sense to show he was still here. The treat is still large at hand
There was an all-clear, allowing us to get back up off the ground, and be situated. Volodymyr looked over at me, and they rushed to get his helmet and vest back on. In his eyes, there was a sense of terror. They are getting closer, and the closer they get the more he has a target on his head. I tried to step closer to him, to speak to him, but they wouldn't let me. I was stuck in my circle of security.
