"Remember you have a meeting in an hour with the President of the EU, Ursula von der Leyen," Andriy stated, as he pulled the door of the board room open, looking back at Volodymyr.

"I know," Volodymyr replied matter-of-factly. In response, Andriy walked out of the room.

Crowded up his ass and died? He's never been so rude about something, for who knows how long. Andriy looked over at me before heading out the door and closing it behind him. Leaving just Volodymyr and me in the room with the tech crew.

I try to mentally shake off what had just happened. All of what Andriy said was uncalled for. Yes, he's Volodymyr's Chief of Staff, and yes Volodymyr should be focused on the war, but he is doing his job. We haven't even spoken to each other this morning.

I look back over to Volodymyr, not knowing how to start a conversation in front of these perfectly good strangers. It's not like I'm not going to say anything about last night, that's for sure. Poor Ivan probably heard way too much. There's no reason anyone else needs to even know about our personal lives.

"Let me take you back to the room," Volodymyr said after we made eye contact. Before I even get able to accept the offer he's already collecting his things.

"That would be nice," I agree. I got up, as he did, meeting at the door. He kindly holds the door for me to exit the room first, quickly closing it behind himself. There's a guard outside the room, ready to follow any which way we might go. I believe his name is Danylo, but I'm not sure.

We started down the hall, where I had come from earlier, side by side. It's hard not to look over at him. I'm so proud of him for being able to hold himself together so well for his people. They are the same people that had elected him to be there for them in a time of need. They knew he was no true politician and that he does not understand the military as some others would. He was here to break the pro-Russian norm and would stand for freedom.

Even though his approval rating has dropped so much since he was elected, it has skyrocketed in comparison since he's stayed in Kyiv. There was never a question in my mind that he wouldn't have left with the chances the US and UK had given him. He loves the people he represents and he loves his home. If he was not President, he probably would have joined the fight and helped in any way he could.

His fingers were intertwined with mine, as we made the turn to the hall that led to our room. I lightly squeeze his hand in return causing a small smile to grow on his face. It's hard not to smile back in response. We finish the walk to the room in silence. I'm just proud of him and want to find the right words.

"I have to say I'm very thankful you invited me to be a part of the speech. I hope you understand how proud I am of you." I finally said, breaking the silence, when we made it to the door of our room.

Our hands drop, as he comes in front of me. I smiled at him. I wanted something, to do something, my words didn't feel like enough but seemed to be the right ones. Not sure what I wanted though.

"You have to know, I want you to be there for all the big moments, just as you've been in the past." He said, meeting my eyes with a slight smile, placing his hand against my cheek. Letting my being just with him for the moment.

I was kinda at a loss for words. He wants me there for all his big moments. I want to be there for those too.

"I'd like that." It comes out softly.

God, we must seem like teenagers, all smiley and not knowing exactly what to say next. I kind of hate that he has this effect on me.

"You wouldn't have time to step inside would you?" I ask, knowing full well guards are watching us.
