I woke the next morning to a knock on my door. Because of the current situation, I rush to my feet to open the door. When I get there there's no one there. I peek out the door and there's no one running away. I look down and there's a vase of flowers. Before bending down to pick them up I double check that no one is around; claiming ownership of the action.
There was no one around, so I bent down and picked them up. It was a bouquet of bright yellow daffodils, in a very simple vase, with a blue ribbon wrapped around it as an accent. I step back into my room, and I notice there is a small card tucked into the flowers. One that was carefully placed within the center. On the front there's writing. It's Volodymyr's handwriting. I placed it on the nearest surface, so I could pull the card out.
'I'm sorry for yesterday. Please have dinner with me tonight.'
A small smile filled my face, there was a sense of warmth that grew inside of me. Yesterday was not good for us. He seemed to understand the need to keep personal and work apart. It's new, and we have to see what comes of it. He has a million things on his plate, and I don't want to be the one that makes it much for him. I don't want him to suffer in any aspect, but I didn't want things to get messed up. I would have lived through this without him finding out about my feelings. I never forgot that night to turn into this. Yet I feel as if I have to take everything for granted, but at least I get to try this with him.
Today we get to pull a little bit back from the televised media, so mostly we are working on our things, and he's taking calls all day. Only really because we are planning to release the information about the assassination attempts to show how we are stopping them, and this will not be an easy fight for the Russians. There have been ones that haven't even gotten close enough to feel like attempts. We figured they were on their way to do so, because of tips we've been able to receive from anti-war government members in Russia. This will be released to the media in a private briefing session with the defense department. There's nothing to prepare for on my side media-wise. Just the general updates are another thing we are talking about and asking for from other world leaders.
Tomorrow we have a one-on-one with Vice News, so I'll be finishing up some small details with that. A brief double-check on questions that were approved. Since Vice News is an American news outlet the interview will be in English. Which I've noticed has sometimes become a bit more challenging for him as of late. It's not a complete struggle, but he might miss a phrase or two. So, we may go over it this afternoon.

Unlike the state-paid PR and media personnel, I do not work covering the news on what exactly the government is doing. I work alongside them, to push the right messages, but I work directly alongside Volodymyr on his social platforms that were established before he even thought about running for President. So, it's been different and interesting to be working more alongside him to make this new content and become even more involved with the inner workings of the government.
Before this war I worked closely with him almost everyday, but I also managed accounts back at the production company. We were friends inside and outside of work. Doing all these things together really is why we have been able to become so close. With the amount we saw of each other we were so intertwined in each other's lives; becoming the person it was easiest to talk to. How naturally everything came may have led me to having these feelings for him.
He was the one I could go to about anything, even though sometimes I didn't because I'm stubborn, and don't want to feel weak, but when I did, I knew I wouldn't be judged. That he would stand up for me, and fight for me to not feel alone or afraid. He always did whatever he could to help me. He made me feel like I wasn't alone in something.
