"So... How long have you been sitting here?" Aoi asked as she walked closer to the girl smiling in success. "Ah, this is what it feels like to win a hide and seek game! For the longest time of always being the first to be found," Yashiro stretches her arms up in the air and continued what she's blabbering. "I've succeeded that stupid game!"Aoi chuckled and sits down on the chair next to the girl. "Answer my question, Nene-chan. How long-"
"Since you entered the room, obviously. I wouldn't climb up here from outside." Yashiro answered. The purple haired girl was silent. 'Was Amane aware all this time? Was yelling and running down to Akane an excuse to leave us alone? '
Yashiro giggled and pats her shoulders. "Amane-kun knows, but I threatened him to not say a word." The cream-blonde girl then stood up from her spot. "Ao-chan, look at the sky! Isn't ut lovely?"
Aoi was mesmerized, but only to the smile that her best friend is showing to her. It was pretty, she is pretty. A smile that can warm her up on cold seasons, and a smile that gives her comfort.
Aoi admits she's a selfish girl. And if wanting Yashiro Nene to always smile at her ever so lovingly, then so be it.
"Ao-chan? You've been spacing out a lot today. Are you sick?" Her train of thought snapped when Yashiro kept on patting her shoulders. She's right, she is spacing out a lot today. Is this because of the idea of confessing to her best friend before they go home?
"Oh, really?" Aoi giggled. "I'm sorry. I think I've worried you a lot." Yashiro shook her head. "Not really. Well, kinda, but not entirely. Sure, I'm always concerned about your whereabouts, but that's because I'm your-"
"Best friend?" Yashiro stopped her ramblings as Aoi spoke in. The daikon ankle girl blinked a couple of times before quietly replying a 'yes'. She heard the girl beside her sigh. "Well, you don't really have to do that 24/7, you know? Maybe a little worry is alright, but it's not an obligation."
Aoi stood up from her seat and walked back inside. She was about to tell her goodnight when Yashiro then blurted something that she was not expecting to be said by her at the moment.
"Aoi-chan... The moon's very pretty tonight, isn't it?"
_______
"So... How's it going?"
Amane and Aoi walked to the lake, to the exact same spot Aoi and Yashiro had a little picnic last night. For the boy, he was dragged out of the kitchen by Aoi and her reason was 'girl emergency', which is the codename he made when they're going to talk about Yashiro.
"She said the moon was pretty last night." Aoi said, her face buried on her both palms. Amane blinked three times.
"WHAT?"
Aoi squealed and faked cried after. "That was so random! We were just talking about the stars, the best friend obligation thingy and when I was about to inside because I wanna go to the bathroom, she just said that! DOESN'T THAT MEAN I LOVE YOU?"
"Why do you wanna go to the bathroom when you're in the middle of a conversation with someone?" That was Amane 's first comment before earning 'that creepy smile' from his cousin. "Can't I? May I not?"
Amane sighed and chuckled. "Seems that she means it that way, hmm? If your guts tells you that's it, then maybe it is." He said. "But what if she means it in a friendship way? I can't- We can't just assume things!"
The amber-eyed boy grabbed both of Aoi's shoulders and began shaking the poor girl. "Aoi, Listen! No way in hell someone means that in a friendship way! Coupled says that! People confessing says that! Maybe she likes you too!" Amane says, shaking the girl word after word.
"What are you doing, Yugi?!"
"Oh shit."
Amane lets go of Aoi before muttering a sorry to her and run off as fast as he could. Aoi looked around and saw Akane and Yashiro running towards them, well, towards Amane.
"Aoi-chan! Are you alright? You said you're sick yesterday!" Yashiro exclaimed. 'Oh right,' Aoi thought, 'I said I was sick last night as an excuse to go to bed way early than everyone'.
"I'm alright! Amane-kun was just scolding me for not taking medicine." Aoi defended. "But he shouldn't be shaking you like that! That jerk!"
Aoi laughed and hugs her best friend. "Don't be like that, Nene-chan. He's always like that. You remember when I said to you that he and his twin may not act a like all the time, but that doesn't mean they don't have similar traits, especially in personality?"
Yashiro just nodded her head. "I guess so. Anyway, Aunt Sumire is looking for you earlier." The purple haired girl smiled and took the girl's hand and drags her along back to their cabin. "Then let's go!"
Amane and Akane, on the other hand, stopped chasing each other, stands by near the water of the lake, and began talking about the fishes they see.
