The weather is slightly cloudy yet too cold for Aoi. Her grip on her scarf got tighten as the cold wind pass by, making her shiver more. The boy on her side looked at her by the corner of his eyes and sighed. "Need any help?" he asked but then got the offer turned down.

"No thanks. I'm a strong girl. A mere wind won't take me down."

The boy rolled his eyes and puts his hands on the pocket of his warm jacket. "Considering you have a petite figure, yeah. But I'm blaming you if Akane starts to skin me alive." He said. Aoi scoffed and looked away.

"Why did you even have to pick me up anyway, Amane-kun? I can just walk myself to school, like I usually do."

"Is it my fault your mom called me?"

"This is why you got turn down by your childhood crush, Shijima-senpai. You're too sarcastic and sadistic."

"I was ten, Aoi! I'm busy for studying moons now, so I don't have time for romantic stuff. Leave the whole clan responsibility to Tsukasa alone."

Aoi laughed at the misery of her relative. Not much people knew much about their connection, but their friends already figured it out. Amane's mother is her mother's half sister, basically making them half cousins, if that is really a thing.

About this so called responsibility, they came from a clan that has been up for centuries now, but Aoi barely has any knowledge about it, even their traditions. The only thing she was told to was that she is  needed to have an offspring in the future in order to continue their so called clan.

'Tsk. Amane-kun and Tsukasa-kun can continue the bloodline. The traditional offspring coming from an Akane woman ends with me.'

"Aoi-chan!" A boy t came in, running towards the two as fast as he could, holding something, which she assumes to be a flower, on his hands. Aoi sighed and just smiled sweetly at the incoming friend of theirs. She heard the other whistle besides but she just ignored the ravenette who then hid behind her.

The redhead stopped infront of them, panting hard as he tries to stable his breathing. She got a glimpse of the yellow haired classmate and friend by the highschool campus entrance, who seems to be densely busy with their phone, as usual.

"Good morning, Akane-kun." She greeted, her natural charms already blooming out. Akane handed her the purple tulip, smiling proudly to himself as he did so. "Good morning, Ao-chan! Hah... Please... Accept my love!" He confessed, only getting a soft chuckle from the other.

"Two out of twenty! Good try, Akane-kun! But you shouldn't be stressing yourself so early in the morning." She heard Amane snort from behind while Akane slightly groaned. The taller stood up straight and smiled at her with a visible affection. "It's okay. Thank you! But do accept the flower! Have a good day, Ao-chan!"

And with that, he ran back inside towards the highschool campus, leaving her all in relief. She can hear the girls gossiping by the corner, but she just went off, not caring about their existence like she would always do.

This is why she hates public confessions. It makes someone feel pressured and feel like they have no other choice just to avoid such humiliation and embarrassment they might receive if they rejected someone and same goes to the one confessing. And now she got herself into a whole new yet unsurprising rumors.

"Aoi-chan?" Aoi snaps out from her mind and looked at the person infront of her. She sighed and smiled widely, pulling her best friend instantly in for a hug. The great amount of relief and comfort she felt and the pressure and weight she had through her shoulders suddenly went away just by the warmth of the girl.

"Nene~" she called. She felt a pat on her head, in which she assumes Nene trying to help as if it is going to make her feel better, which it totally did. "Rough morning?" She heard her asked and she just hums in response. "Now I felt bad for him. I mean, he is my childhood buddy, right?"

'Please Nene-chan. Say no when I talk about going out with him.'

"Maybe try taking him out in a date. I mean, gotta admire that loyalty, you know? Haha! It's a one in a life time experience!"

'Damn it.'

Aoi let go of her embrace and walks to her locker, changing her shoes to indoors one and Nene who already changed hers just stands by her side. "Really?" She started off. "Am I really worth it to be with Akane-kun? I mean... He is a cute guy and a very nice one too but I don't think I deserve to be with him."

'Yeah. He really does not fit for me. He deserve someone better.'

Nene was silenced for a couple of minutes until she spoke again. "You're self doubting again, Aoi-chan. You should know by now that you are loved by a lot of people! If you try to turn yourself down again I'm not going to talk to you for a week!" As they arrived at their classroom, they directly headed to their favorite spot after dropping down their school bags by their desks.  At the back of the room and just by the windows where the indoor plants are is the area that was for them and only the two of them.

Settling down, the duo continued on what they are supposed to be talking about earlier.

"Nene-chan, don't be like that."

"Hmph! Just admit you are pretty and we're fine!"

Aoi pursed her lips together with what she said. Does she thinks that she is pretty herself? Slightly, but still not close to the exact word. Aoi knows herself that she shouldn't be described in such flattering words and compliments either because there is nothing very special to be praised of. After all, she thinks that she is not as special as Nene is.

"You think I'm pretty?"

"Yes! Totally! Drop dead gorgeous that I will sacrifice my whole life for you!" Nene responded, holding their hands together like they usually do. It's probably their signature pose too.

Aoi began to blush hard and looked away. "Hmm... Yeah..." She was lucky that Nene's attention was then darted  to Amane, who came in a good yet bad timing by yelling at Nene about their unfinished group project together with their other classmates. Atleast the girl with fat ankles won't acknowledge her sudden blushing and her little bisexual side coming out, right?

'Thank goodness. I should thank that weirdo later.'

_____

Yep! I'm putting in the “Amane and Aoi might probably be blood related if he was alive in the same generation as them” head canon because it actually makes a lot of  sense. (Hence, they even look like the opposite genders of  each other, don't @ me).

And also, I kinda feel bad for Akane here... but a plot is a plot!

Thank you for reading!!!!
