Your fingers laced together as you led him upstairs to his room. A shy smile on his lips, his gentle blue eyes shone with adoration, and his heart skipped a few beats when he was around you. Every step reminded you of a different memory you two made together in the past six months. Every crack of a step added more fuel to the burning anticipation inside your cores.
Not in a million years, Erwin had thought he could fall in love again. He was sure his faith was leading him to the emptiness of a grave until you came into his life like a guardian angel and saved him from drowning in his misery. Your smile brightened up his world; a glimpse of hope in the depth of his soulless life. You made him feel invincible, admired, and loved.
He could get lost in your laughter, or how your eyes twinkled every time you talked about a new book you read. You became his world, his dream, and hope, in such a short time. You didn't need to do anything out of the ordinary, you were just...you. He valued your enthusiasm as you would rumble about a new series that was sent to your library in the morning.
Love at first sight, was for fictional romances, but he was captivated by you the moment his eyes fell on your soft figure. Touche, he should have known what he was stepping into before he was head over heels for you.
He recalled a few hours ago when you showed up at his place, books in one hand and a bottle of wine in the other as you greeted him with a lingering kiss on his cheek. He froze and a blush crept on his cheeks at the contact. Every glance at you healed another piece of the million pieces of his broken heart. He fell in love with you, he fell hard for you. So hard that nothing in this world mattered to him, but you.
In black ink, my love may still shine bright, you read to him, your eyes filled with wholesome happiness as you looked at him. "This is so beautiful, don't you agree?" You asked hopefully. He chuckled, his warm colorful eyes never leaving yours. He held your hand, a wave of emotions swimming in his heart as you shot him a smile. He listened to every word you read to him, but the answer he gave you wasn't directed to the quote; it was for you.
"So beautiful indeed." He responded and watched as your smile grew wider, wide enough to reach your eyes. He couldn't be any happier. He had you; the purest thing he had ever known.
Erwin believed no candles could bring light after the sunset, but when the earth turned quiet after dusk, you were there to light up his night. You glowed under the orange and yellow hues of the tiny flames on the table with your head on his shoulder as you read aloud to him.
He stared at you longer, and longer, and longer, until he had your peaceful face carved in his mind; so fragile, so magnificent. You were his eternity, his glimmer of love. Not only did he love you, but he longed for you.
You turned your head to him, giving him one of those smiles that made his heart flutter with joy.
"What are you thinking about?"
"You,"
Your cheeks heated up, so did Erwin's. None of you expected him to be so straightforward. Neither of you was shy, but you flustered each other pretty easily, and it was quite embarrassing to have such an effect on the other.
You took a shaky inhale, closing the book before you faced him. The heat of his body warmed up your soul. Each passing second that was spent by your side was a reminder that he was alive, breathing.
His eyes couldn't seem to see anything except you. His cheeks were on fire when you reached and pushed a few strands of his golden hair out of his face, your finger brushing on his heated cheeks.
