[The next day]

Sage had not seen Elijah since the day he abruptly left Discord. To top it off, he had yet to answer any of her calls or texts. He hadn't even opened them.

It was safe to say Sage was getting what could only be termed as ghosted.

She'd thought to give him his space. Perhaps he wasn't feeling well or was in a generally cranky mood.

But then she realized that this was Elijah she was tiptoeing around — She'd known him for 2 years now and knew him better than any of her high school friends.

Today, she was determined to find him and get him to talk; the one thing he'd been weirdly avoiding.

Her heart fluttered the second she spotted him near his locker. Having not seen her best friend for days, she ran up to him with a smile she couldn't contain.

This was Elijah. If there was something he wanted to say, he wouldn't push her away. It's just not what they did.

So, when his face fell sour at the sight of her, Sage's long steps faltered. He hiked his bag up on his shoulder and turned to walk the other way.

Sage wasn't sure how to feel as she watched him disappear; not a word of hello exchanged this time either.
