Pilfered Sweets

Nectar sticking dripping
Sweetly smelling
Wafting through the air.
Tipped over by mischief.
Swiftly scattered
The children flutter.
Winding here and there.
Dipping turning forever yearning
A sneaky taste stole quickly
A swatted hand is their only reward.
The party started
The music flowing
Amongst the dancers
They wind unknowing
Searching for a prize most delicious.
Leaping looking skillfully lurking
Laughter quaking under each table
Lie waiting for a pilfered platter.
greedy tongues lapping up each morsel.
The deed is done, the chase is won.
Drifting soundly the children found snoring.
Holding tight to their treasures plundered.
Parents gathered to collect the guilty.
Slowly each child traveled while dreaming.
Forgotten their scheming.
Each tucked in with caring.
Unaware of their flight.
