"Thank you! Please come again!"

*Cling! Cling!*

"You're sure working hard, Hayake-kun."

D-Did Okasawa just praise me?! Yes!

"Of course I am! Having another day off so soon made me realize how much I missed this job!"

"Really?!"

"..."

The actual reason... is because I spent so much money at that damn arcade! I'm penniless! I thought I was finally going to be able to get something from the school cafeteria for once, but no! My entire first paycheck was gone!

"..."

Because of that, I grew a little curious. I knew the fabled coat of the shining beauty would be valuable, so I thought I'd go ahead and see how much it would go for in auction. Just an innocent test run. I was going to cancel the auction the moment before it ended. But... the moment I made the post.

*Ding!*

'Do you want to die?'

I didn't even question how Yua saw it so quickly, but the next five minutes were me frantically looking up how to delete an auction. Luckily, I was able to delete it before anybody saw it, so I lived. Hopefully, I don't run into her for the rest of the day. Ah. As for the trench coat, I left it back home. The last thing I needed was Okasawa asking why I had the shining beauty's coat in my possession.

*Cling!*

"Welcome!"

A man with his child walked in and began browsing over the selection. There were a few new additions, but just because they were new didn't mean that they were edible. Truth is, I don't know what the heck Okasawa and her dad were thinking. First off, oyster-filled doughnuts? Are they trying to kill someone? The other one was something called a lemonut. A donut that was literally dunked in lemon juice with lemon slices on top. But the worst one by far was the eye donut. It was literally a donut with fish eyes sprinkled all over it! Okasawa told me it was going to be the Halloween special, but this is taking it way too far! It's way too literal!

"...Do you think they'll buy any of the new donuts?"

"Hirano-san. We have yet to sell one."

"I don't understand. I thought people liked trying new things."

"*Sigh...* Did you and your dad think about trying the donuts yourselves?"

"..."

Nope. She didn't. I can tell by that blank stare of hers.

"Ah! Is that all you'd like, sir?"

They picked out... huh. A smoreful delight and jelly. Glad they were reasonable with their choices.

"Would you like to try any of our new selections before you go?"

The man and the child took one look at the ones she was pointing at and quickly shook their heads. Good! Hurry up and leave before you have fish eyes going down your gullet!

*Ka-ching!*

"Thank you!"

The two left and we began to reorganize the donuts. Well... the ones that customers actually bought. The others were still sitting there with the sun beating down on them.

"..."

Maybe... I can try to pitch in some of my ideas. Sure, I may have only been working here for a week, but I did come up with some ideas that could possibly help improve the sales. The only thing stopping me was obviously... Okasawa's dad. I knew that if I tried to pitch in, he'd probably try to lash out at me or something for overstepping my boundaries! Kwaa! So scary!
