Nico di Angelo was currently sitting with Reyna at a table during lunch with Thalia and Leo.

“So, you’re telling me, you got into a fistfight with Octavian to defend Hazel and me?” Reyna asked, observing the bruises on Nico.

“And Percy, but don’t tell him I said that.” He said, retracting his arm.

“But then, Will Solace, the boy you met a  little over a week ago, offered to help you after you got into a fistfight with Octavian, and you let him.” Reyna said, “Who in the hell are you and what have you done with our Nico?” Her tone was playful as she tried fully processing it.

“Crushes are so weird,” Thalia mumbled, taking a bite of her food.

“I know right,” Leo said, nudging Thalia’s shoulder.

“Don’t touch me.” She said, sliding over a little bit. He nodded.

“Moving on. I don’t have a crush on Will. It was just weird.” Nico said. “Then throughout world history, he kept looking at me.”

“Did you ever text him?” Reyna asked.

“Oh fuck. I never pressed send.” He muttered pulling out his phone. Leo grabbed it from his hands and read out the draft message.

“‘Hey, it’s death boy’. Really? Gay flirting is so sad.” Leo joked, disappointingly handing Nico his phone back.

“You say that as if you could do better,” Thalia said, leaning back slightly. “I think it’s fine.” She said,

“Aren’t you aro-ace?” Leo asked rhetorically.
“I am still better at flirting than you.”

Leo crossed his arms, accepting his defeat with a pout.

“I’m just going to do it, and at the worst, he’ll hate me and want nothing to do with me,” Nico mumbled as he pressed send. “No big deal.”

Reyna glanced at Leo before speaking. “¿Es posible que a Will le gusten los chicos?” She asked

(Is it possible that Will likes guys?)

“I need to learn Spanish,” Nico said, trying to figure out what they were saying. Thalia nodded in agreement.

“Sabes, nunca he preguntado.” Leo answered “Pero lo haré."

(Y'know, I've never asked. But I will)

“Bien, porque si lo hace, podríamos conseguir que Nico sea un amigo queer o tal vez incluso un novio–"

(Well, because if he does, we might get Nico to be a queer friend or maybe even a boyfriend-)

“Okay, you two are done.” Nico interrupted. “I am going to my next class and I am going to try to not die. You three will never speak a word about what I told you. Understand?” Nico said, standing up. His brown eyes pierced through their souls. Thalia nodded.

“You know I don’t tell anyone about our conversations,” Reyna said, placing her hands up in defense. Attention turned to Leo
.
“I’m putting my trust in you, Leo. Don’t let me down.” Nico said.

   “I won’t.”

Two more weeks had passed. Nico’s bruises had mostly healed and his busted lip was now only a small scar.  Will and Nico had grown closer, they could text every other day, always pairing up in class, and learning more about each other every day.
