Nico di Angelo was angry– no, he was infuriated. Every single thing that could go wrong this weekend, went wrong. He flung his bedroom door open, before remembering to grab his phone. He then yelled into it, “Perseus Jackson, I am going to murder you.”“It was a good idea at the time!”
“Of course, it was for you. It was an amazing idea for you but somehow you got me involved.” Nico said. It was currently Saturday morning and he was on the phone with Percy who had called him and told him that they were all having a sleepover at Nico's house. “You didn’t even bother asking me, oh my gods.” Nico let out a large groan as he ran down the stairs, making small mental notes on which parts of the house to clean.
“Dude, I can cancel, I’m sure Will won’t mind.”
“You invited the sunshine boy?” Nico almost tripped down the stairs at Percy’s words. “I swear on the Styx, you are dead the moment you step foot into this house.”
“Well it was just supposed to be in between you, Thalia, Annabeth, Reyna, Leo, and I. But then Leo asked if he could invite Piper and Will and I said yes without thinking and then I remembered it couldn’t be at mine or Thalias because our dads are at a meeting across the country and—”
“I know. My dad is at the same meeting!” Nico said, carrying small bits of trash and throwing them away, taking note of the full trash can.
“Exactly, but then I remembered Persephone is always home so, I was like ‘ we could do it at Nico's ’, and we all agreed on it but then I remembered I hadn’t texted you at all about it.”
“You know I don’t answer my texts, everyone knows I don’t answer my texts!”
“Well, I am sorry for trying to include you in things,” Percy said, sarcasm flooding his tone. “I can cancel if you want.”
“No-no-no. It’s fine. Everything is fine. You owe me big time, Jackson.” Nico said, death glaring Percy through the Camera. “When is this stupid thing anyway?”
“Six, tonight.”
“My first, three-day weekend of the year, and I have to spend it with the stupidest, but simultaneously the smartest, group of people ever to exist.”
“Stop whining, I just wanna help you get friends.”
“I have friends,” Nico said, speed-walking into the kitchen to take out the trash.
“The ghosts in your house don’t count.”
“Go fuck your girlfriend or something, I have a house to clean,” Nico said as he hung up. He threw the bag of trash in the large trash bin outside before walking back into the house. His stepmother had appeared in the kitchen while he was gone.
“Are your friends coming over?” She asked, pouring herself coffee, being careful to not get any of it on her flower printed sweats.
“Why were you listening in on my conversation?” Nico questioned, replacing the trash bag.
“The house echos.” She answered, looking around suspiciously, “I’ll stay in my room the whole time, don’t worry.” She grabbed her coffee and walked back up the stairs. Nico just watched as she walked away.
—
Nico was interrupted from his cleaning when the doorbell rang echoing through his house. He sped out of the bathroom and down the stairs, his cleaning gloves still on his hands, carrying Clorox wipes in the other. He was so focused on cleaning and making sure the house was perfect, that he had lost track of time. Cerberus ran down the stairs with him, following him to the door.
