Went for a jog. See you soon.
-AdamAdam left the sticky note on Samantha's phone. He deathly needed some mindfulness and time to contemplate EVERYTHING that had happened in the past 10 hours.
He doesn't remember anything that happened after leaving the restaurant, which is terrifying!
Adam had jogged so far, ending up in a different neighborhood before realizing just how long he had been gone. His usual 45 minute jog had turned into a hour an half jog! He knew she'd be up by now an waiting for him.
*********
Opening the door to his place, he could faintly hear The Foo Fighters playing from the kitchen.
He peeked his head into the entrance way of the kitchen.
He was surprised to see Sam was nonchalantly making a bowl of Frosted Flakes at the the table, listening to her phone. As if everything was--fine? Maybe everything was okay?
"Good morning.." he announced from behind her.
She looked over her shoulder.
"Hi.." She replies before putting a mouthful of cereal in her mouth.
Everything seemed normal...Adam trids cautiously into the kitchen an pulls out a chair next to her. Before he's able to sit, Samantha pauses the song on her phone and puts the spoon in the bowl. She exhaled deeply, giving him a disappointed glare.
"So...you wanna explain why you acted like a jerk last night??" She asked curiously.
Her eyes look like they're on the brink of bursting into tears just by looking at him.
He just stood there frozen. His eyes shift left and right exactly like a Kit-Cat clock.
"Wait, I was a jerk?" He asked unsure of what happened."You really have to ask?! You treated our taxi driver like shit! You yelled at him most of the ride. He made one wrong turn that set us back only by 3 minutes an you decided climbing over the seat, to take the wheel from him was a good a idea??!! You could of killed us!" She snapped at him, slamming her hand on the table at the thought of it.
He doesn't recall any of that happening!
It feels like he's having a bad dream, he wishes a camera crew would burst into the room an say "Gotcha dude!"
But that's not going to happen. This is real life with real consequences. To hear that he could had killed somebody, definitely made his stomach turn. He ran his fingers threw his hair , slightly pulling at the roots of his mane in frustration.
"You went straight to bed unbothered when we got here..It was like you didn't care about anybody." she mutters.
I'm a asshole. I'm a asshole. I'M A ASSHOLE!! Is that a good enough reason? Is that what you wanna hear?
Stop feeling sorry for yourself. She deserves the TRUTH .It's festering up inside!
It's now or never! She's waiting for a answer man! You better give her it.
He resumes at pulling out the chair an takes a sit at the kitchen table.
"Sam, I need to admit something that I did last night behind your back." Adam confesses, popping his knuckles. Her eyelids flutter upon hearing he wants to confess something, her arms cross tightly against her chest.
"Adam..what did you do?!?" Her voice is strident.
"Well..halfway threw our date, I wasn't even-- sober. I went to the bar and had a glass of liquor every time you went to the restroom." He admits having several throughout the night.
Her arms uncrossed an she swiftly placed her hand over her heart showing her pain, she could just rip it out. Her eyes swelled up with tears, she turns her face away from him for a second to wipe them away with her sleeve.
