I'm pulling up to my apartment and get out of my car once I park. Walking through the doors to my building, I acknowledge the people at the desk and get in the elevator. The ride up is short, and soon, I'm unlocking my door and stepping into my apartment. As I enter, I notice the lights are off, and all the rooms are quiet. It looks like Katherine left sometime while I was out. Tossing my keys on the counter, I walk in and lie on the couch.

About 10 minutes later, Cami walks through my door. She has a brown bag in one hand and a case of beer in the other. I leave the couch and walk towards the island as she sets the liquor on the counter. "So, are we going to get this party started?" She questions, grinning, and I respond with a nod. She's already searching through my cabinets, looking for glasses. She makes a mixed drink with the little variety of juice in my fridge, and I put the cans in until the shelf is full. She passes me a full glass and proceeds to prepare one for herself. "So, tell me about this new girl." She orders. She looks around, and before I can say anything, she questions, "Wait, is she here?"

I take a big sip of my drink and respond, "No, she isn't here right now." She digs through my drawers until she finds the pack of straws Katherine bought sometime last week.

She takes a sip of her drink and makes a face before adding a little more juice. "Okay, so tell me about her. What's new." She comes around the island and sits next to me.

" I don't know. It's tough with her." I shrug, taking another sip.

"Come on, Kellin, give me more details. Like, what's been happening between you two?" She presses, leaning her arm on the island.

I sigh and respond, "Cam, it's kinda complicated. How I feel about her is weird and not what I'm used to. She is an amazing person, and we can have some great conversations, but I feel she's holding back." Admitting it makes me feel weird, and I use the break to take another sip of my drink. I debate about pouring another shot into the glass, but I don't.

"Why do you feel she's holding back?" She asks quizzically. Her eyebrows furrow as she thinks about what I said.

"She acts and looks at me a certain way that makes me feel like she wants me, but then she'll act the opposite. Last night, we were talking and hanging out, and then things started heating up. I swear we were about to do it, and then she stopped it because she said she didn't want to ruin our friendship." I lean against the countertop, looking at my drink, "I don't know why, but when she said that, it kinda stung."

Cami laughs, "Maybe because you're not used to rejection." She sips her drink and stares at me, "Wait, does that mean you guys haven't fucked yet?" She looks shocked as I shake my head. "Woah, dude. I want to know exactly how you feel about her." This conversation makes me finish the drink in my hand, and I stand up to grab a beer.

"I don't know. She's an awesome person." I sigh. "I think I might like her, Cam. The problem is, I made a bet with my friends a while ago." I press my lips in a tight line.

"What bet?" She asks, staring at me confused. I take a swig of beer, embarrassed.

I look down at the counter before looking back up at her. "I made a bet with my friends to get her to sleep with me, and I regret making that bet. They bring it up all the time." Cami looks at me with a shocked look on her face.

"Wait wh-" As soon as she starts talking, the door opens.

Katherines POV

I open the door and stop in my tracks. Kellin and some girl that I don't know are sitting at the kitchen island, staring at me. Both Kellin and the girl are staring at me with shocked expressions, and I notice the alcohol on the counter. I feel my heart drop to my stomach.
