The workers put every dead player's body in a coffin that has the appearance of a birthday box. They put all the coffins down at the basement to where they cremated the whole thing.
Everyone who won the first game was led back to their room. Everyone was extremely gloomy, they all sat near each other. Kyung-mi had really weird feelings. It's about to be the second game and she hasn't died yet. It's not like she isn't able to survive the second game, it's just that Kyung-mi clearly moved, more than once in the first game. Kyung-mi is extremely grateful that she's still alive, but she didn't just move once, she moved several times and nothing happened. Even someone yelled, "Hey! She moved!" But instead of Kyung-mi getting shot, the player got shot. It's like someone is preventing her from dying. Whoever it is, Kyung-mi is extremely lucky that they're on her side.
Kyung-mi couldn't handle the silence in the room, so she turned to Sang-woo. "Sang-woo." Sang-woo lifted his head and looked at Kyung-mi. "Thank you." He simply nodded his head and went back to looking down. Kyung-mi then looked to her left where the same player who held onto her jacket was sitting. "Thank you, you two really saved my life." The player finally spoke, "I'm glad you're alive." Before Kyung-mi could say anything, an alarm rang and the two steel doors opened and the one boss and soldiers walked through it. The players immediately stood up to hear what they were going to say.
"All of you have made it through the first game. Congratulations. Let me announce the results of the first game." Up at the large Tv, the number of players went down, from 456, all the way to 201 players left. "Out of 456 players, 255 players were eliminated, and 201 players completed the first game." The players started panicking and started talking amongst themselves. "Sir!" A woman yelled as she walked in front of everyone, crying.
"I'm so sorry! I'll make sure I pay off my debts...I'll pay them off at all costs." She then went down on her knees. "Please, sir...I have a child...I haven't even registered my baby's birth because I haven't named my baby yet. Please let me leave." Then another woman came up and went on her knees. "Sir, I'm so sorry. Please spare my life. I'll find a way to pay off the debts!" Then even more people started begging for their lives. The boss who was silent the whole time, finally spoke. "There seems to be a misunderstanding. We are not trying to hurt you or collect your debts. Let me remind you that we're here to give you a chance-" Before he could finish, a player yelled out, "A chance? You call this a chance? You kill us while making us play a kids game. How is this a chance?" Then another player joined in, "We may be in debt, but that doesn't mean we deserve to die." The boss simply responded, "This is just a game."
"You killed all those people! Yet you called this a game?" The boss responded, "They were simply eliminated for breaking the rules of the game. If you just follow the rules, you can leave this place safely with the prize money we promised." Then another player yelled out, "I don't need that stupid prize money. Please just let me out." After he said that, everyone started pleading for their lives. Then the boss read out a clause from the consent form, "Consent form clause 1: A player is not allowed to stop playing." But a player managed to say, "Do you think you'll get away with everything you're doing? The police will barge in any minute now to find us who've been missing." Everyone nodded in agreement. "He's right! If you don't let us go, they'll locate us by tracking our phones and come find us! Then you'll be doomed!" Then the boss took out his revolver and shot out a warning. As everyone bent down for cover, the soldiers aimed their guns at the players. Then the boss continued to say the clauses, "Consent form clause 2: A player who refuses to play will be eliminated."
Sang-woo stood up and said, "Consent form clause 3: Games may be terminated if the majority agrees. Is that correct?" After a few moments of silence, the boss said, "That is correct." Sang-woo looked around and then said, "Then, let us take a vote. If the majority wish to leave this place then you must let us go." Sang-woo was met again with silence. "As you wish, we will take a vote to decide on the termination of the game." Everyone was very happy, they all started to get up but the boss continued to say, "But before we start that, let me announce the prize money accumulated from the first game." He took out a remote and pressed the button. Above, music started playing as large piles of money rained down inside the piggy bank. The music continued to sing out until the money stopped dropping. "A total of 225 players were eliminated during the first game. A hundred million won is at stake for each player. Therefore, 25.5 billion won of prize money has been accumulated so far into the piggy bank. If you wish to give up now, the 25.5 billion won will be sent to the bereaved families of the eliminated players, 100 million won each. However, all of you will return home empty-handed."
The same player who said that she had an unnamed baby spoke out, "Excuse me. If we make it through all six games, how much do we get?" The boss responded, "Since there were 456 players, the total prize money is 45.6 billion won. We will start voting." The workers brought out a stand where two buttons were sitting on top of it. "As you can see, there are two buttons in front of you. If you wish to continue playing, press the green button with an O. If you wish to stop playing, press the red button with an X. And after you finish voting, move to the other side of the white line. The voting will be done in reverse order of the numbers on your chests." Everyone all looked down at their numbers. "Player 465, please cast your vote."
Kyung-mi walked through the crowd and in front of the stand. She looked at the two buttons presented in front of her. Kyung-mi didn't want to continue, but with the amount of money she needs to pay off her debts and the poor living conditions her and her mother live in, she can't stop playing. Kyung-mi pressed the O button and walked to the other side of the line. The Front watched the voting process in the security room in suspense. He was glad that Kyung-mi chose to continue the game, he hopes that other players also chose to do so. "Player 453, please cast your vote." She slowly walked to the stand and like Kyung-mi, paused for a moment to think. She ended up picking the X button. After she casted her vote, she walked to the other side of the line and stood next to Kyung-mi.As votes continue to be casted, all the voting was so close, too close for anyone's liking. When it was Sang-woo's turn, he paused for a moment. He looked back at Kyung-mi who looked at the votes in suspense. Sang-woo chose the O button, wanting to continue the game which made Kyung-mi very happy. After another person voted to continue, a player who hadn't voted yelled out. "Do you all want to continue this insanity?" Then the woman who just voted yelled back at him, "So what if we leave? Will it be any different if we leave? Life out there is hell anyway, damn it."
Another player yelled out in agreement saying, "She's right. If we stop now, we're only doing the dead ones a favor...Only they'll get 100 million won and we're the ones who won! That's not fair." Then another player yelled out in protest pleading with him that they should all go home. But the other player simply replied that he doesn't have a home to go back to and that he has a better chance here than out there. Out of anger, another player grabbed the guy's jacket and held him up yelling that if he wanted to die, then he should, but that he shouldn't bring anyone else down. Before things escalated, a soldier came up and pointed his gun at the two players, forcing them to stop fighting. After that, the voting started once again and the votes were tied up and it was now up to player 1 to break the tie.Everyone watched in suspense and worry as the old man walked up to the stand. After a few moments, the old man chose X. Those who chose to stop the game shouted in joy while the others stood there disappointed. "The majority of the players voted to terminate the game. Therefore, this game is now terminated." A player yelled out, "Those who want to leave can leave, but let the ones who want to stay continue playing."
The Front watched as the player protested, wanting to keep continuing the game. But the boss simply said, "It's a pity that we must say goodbye to you like this. However, we will not seal off the door of opportunity to you. If the majority of you wish to participate again, we will restart the game. Goodbye, till then.
