Chapter 11

"Open the door, I really need to pee right now! Don't you jerks ever take a leak? Let me use the restroom!" Player 212 screamed at the soldier on the other side of the door. "I just need to use the restroom for one second. Is that so hard?" Still, nothing. "This room is full of men. Do you expect me to go on the floor?" She looked at the soldier for an answer, but nothing. "Damn it, you scumbags! At least treat us like humans if you brought us here to play games!"

Kyung-mi couldn't take it anymore, she can't sleep with this woman yelling at the soldier. So she got up and went to confront the woman. "Excuse me, can you quiet down. Me and other people are trying to sleep here." Player 212 got mad and said, "Well I need to use the restroom and he's not letting me!" She then turned her attention back on the soldier and said, "Hey, Triangle. I don't need you. Get me your superior. Get that Square here now, you idiot!" After a couple seconds, the boss went in front of the door and said, "You may not leave the premises outside of your allotted time." This infuriated player 212.

"Shit. Do you think nature calls only at the time you set for us?" In response, the boss covered the glass on the door. "What the...You freaking bastards!" Player 212 kicked the door and yelled, "You don't think I'll go right here and now? Damn it." Player 212 turned around and got into a squat position but before she could pull down her pants, Kyung-mi said, "Jesus woman, have some dignity. Why don't you ask politely instead of yelling." Player 212 just stared at Kyung-mi. "You really think I haven't done that!" Kyung-mi walked up to the door and carefully knocked on the door. "Excuse me. Can you let us use the restroom. This lady is in a squatting position ready to let out a yellow waterfall." After a few moments, the Soldier opened the door and said, "Follow me." Kyung-mi walked in and waited for the other woman to go until she was stopped by player 67. "I have to go too." Just like that, the soldier let all three women in.

In the restroom, player 212 quickly went into a stall and took out a cigarette. But before she was about to light it up, player 67 burst open the stall, startling player 212. "Jesus, you startled me! What?" As she took a puff of her cigarette, player 67 took out her pocket knife and drew the blade, making layer 212 cough the smoke out and nervously said, "Do you want a drag?" Kyung-mi came up and said, "What the heck is going on and why are you holding a pocket knife." Player 67 just said not to worry about it and told player 212 to just stay there and keep smoking. Kyung-mi just went to another stall to do her business as player 67 stood on top of the toilet and used her knife to unscrew the vent. "What are you doing?" As player 212 saw player 67 open the vent, she said, "Are you...going to go in there?" Player 67 responded, "I want a look around. Buy me some time. I'll tell you if I find out anything." After some thought, player 212 said, "Deal, step on me." As player 67 stepped on her shoulder, she let out a low grunt as player 212 went into the vent.

As player 212 crawled through the vent, she looked through another vent and saw a soldier walking through the halls. After he left, she continued through the vent.

Back in the bathroom, player 212 yelled, "My constipation is killing me!" As she led out a loud grunt, the soldier outside just turned his head. "I'd rather give birth to a baby! I'm dying here!" She continued to let out loud grunts. "I'm dying. Why won't it come out?" The soldier turned his back facing forward. Kyung-mi thought to herself. "What is wrong with this woman? Is she on her period?"

Back in the vent, player 67 kept crawling until she saw another vent entry. She looked through the vent and saw the workers cooking something that had a lot of sugar. Kyung-mi just finished doing her business and exited the stall door, as she did that, the soldier knocked on the door and said, "Get out, time is up." As Kyung-mi walked toward the sink, player 212 yelled, "Give me just a moment. It's almost out! Com on, hurry up and come out. Hurry up and come out. I've got to hurry!" The soldier again said, "Come out now. If you don't, I'm going in." Kyung-mi just finished washing her hands and went out of the bathroom and waited outside while player 212 yelled, "Wait! No! Wait a second!" She then came out of the stall and quickly yelled, "There's no toilet paper here!" She then ran to the sink and turned on the sink faucet. "I'm washing myself with water. Don't you come in. Stay right there, I'm washing myself. My bottoms are completely naked." She then put water on her arms. "Now I'm getting clean."

The soldier looked down at Kyung-mi who was listening to the woman and had a disgusted look on her face. "Geez, that woman is crazy." Afterwards, the soldier moved Kyung-mi behind him and banged on the door. "Come out now." Which player 212 frantically said, "Damn it, there's no toilet paper!" The soldier ignored it and said, "If you don't, I'll drag you out." But the player just yelled, "I have to wipe myself!" The soldier barged into the bathroom and saw the sink running and the woman continued to yell, "Hey, aren't you supposed to check each stall for toilet paper? Get that Square guy here! I need to file a complaint."

The Soldier walked up to the stall and opened the door to reveal player 212 on the toilet and player 67 holding the toilet paper. "What the hell are you looking at, bastard?" The Soldier closed the door and turned around in annoyance. After she flushed the toilet, player 212 grabbed the soldier's shoulder and turned him around to face her. "Hey, jerk. Didn't I tell you not to come in? This is sexual harassment! Hey, once I get out of here, I'm going to sue you, bastard." Afterwards, the Soldier escorted the 3 ladies back to the room.

As player 212 and player 67 were walking together, player 212 asked the girl what she saw, but she said that she'll tell her tomorrow. "Why tomorrow? Just tell me now. What did you see? How am I supposed to wait until tomorrow?" Sang-woo heard everything the girls were talking about and now he's curious.

The next day, the lights turned on and the intercom announced that it was breakfast time and for everyone to form a line in the center. Everyone was given bread and milk, as everyone was sitting down eating, Sang-woo was staring at player 67 from a far. Player 199 asked Sang-woo if he was going to eat his bread and Sang-woo said he wasn't and gave player 199 his bread. As everyone was starting to finish, music started playing and the intercom announced that the second game would begin shortly. The players lined up once again and went through the staircase as before. Sang-woo pushed his way to be behind player 67 and he said, "You saw something, didn't you?" She just looked back and continued walking. "I heard you talking last night. Tell me what you saw." Player 67 finally said, "Why should I?" "You're a North Korean defector. All the games they made us play are the ones I played as a kid. The next one is likely to be similar. If you tell me, I could guess what it is."

The players were led into a playground room. With sand, monkey bars and a slide. Kyung-mi commented, "Why is this playground so bug? What will they make us play?" The intercom welcomes them to the game. Kyung-mi askes Sang-woo if he had any idea of what the next game is going to be, but he says nothing. The intercom continues to say

Choose one among the four shapes and stand before it.

Sang-woo looked at the shapes and immediately knew what game they were playing, player 67 told him that they were melting sugar. Kyung-mi saw that Sang-woo was just staring and she asked him what they should do. But he just replied with, "I'm not sure." Then the intercom announces,

As everyone was starting to form a line on which shape to pick, Kyung-mi asked Sang-woo if they should move as a team. But he says, "That might be dangerous. We don't know what game it is. If we all pick the same shape, we might be in trouble. There's this saying in investing, 'Don't put all your eggs in one bucket. Kyung-mi agreed and asked who should go where. Sang-woo immediately claims the triangle. Kyung-mi askes player 199 what he would choose and he chose the circle. The old man told Kyung-mi to choose first and she chose the umbrella which worried Sang-woo. "Umbrella? Why?" Kyung-mi smiled at Sang-woo and said, "My mom scolded me a lot because I always lost my umbrellas. In the end, she only gave me broken ones. I always wanted to carry a good umbrella just like the other kids." Kyung-mi looked at the man who was just staring. "You don't want the star? Do you want to switch?" The old man responded, "No, the star sounds great. We rarely ever get to see stars in this day and age."

"All right, let's get moving. Once we know what we're playing, let's come up with a plan together." They all nodded and went their separate ways.
