Once everyone got to the island the games were being held at, the workers started stripping the players down and putting them in the same tracksuit they had on before.
Kyung-mi woke up in the same bed as before. She immediately got up and looked around for either Sang-woo or the old man. She saw the old man first and came jogging to his bed. "Sir! Sir!" Once she saw that the old man woke up she sighed and said, "Are you alright?" The old man didn't answer her question and said, "It's you. Player 456" The old man got up and saw a lot of people who came back. "A lot of people came back." Kyung-mi looked up at the Tv and saw 182 people had returned, "Yea, you're right. I guess everyone had a tough time."
She looked around and saw a familiar woman. "Hey, look. There's the woman who couldn't even name her kid. She came back too." The old man saw the woman and said, "It is her, I wonder if she named her kid before she came back." "Kyung-mi." Kyung-mi turned around and saw Sang-woo. "Hey Sang-woo. Did you see your mom?" Sang-woo didn't say anything. A man started running towards them and said, "Sir, ma'am." Kyung-mi turned and saw the same guy who saved her. With a bright smile, Kyung-mi said, "It's my savior!" The man came up and said, "I'm glad to see you again, ma'am." He turned to Sang-woo. "Thank you very much for giving me the bus fare.""You gave him the bus fare? You're so nice, Sang-woo!" "He said he'd walk from Yeouido to Ansan." Kyung-mi chuckled and said, "That's so heart-warming. It's like we're comrades from boot camp." The player looked a bit confused, "What's a boot camp?" Kyung-mi answered, "You know, in the army, where you shoot guns and train." That seemed to answer the question. "So it's a place where soldiers live together?" "Yup. Now that we're on the subject, why don't we do this as a team, like we're in the army." Sang-woo agreed. "You're right. We have no idea what we're going to play. It's better to form a group to be prepared for anything." Kyung-mi thought for a moment before turning to the player who saved her. "Listen. Why don't you join us? You're like, amazingly strong. You saw it too Sang-woo! He lifted me up with one hand." Sang-woo responded. "To be fair, anyone can lift you up, you're really thin." Kyung-mi poked his shoulder and said, "If anyone can pick me up, then why don't you pick me up, Sang-woo." Before he could say or do anything, the player said, "Can I really join you two." Kyung-mi nodded.
"Yes, you can be a private, a new recruit. I'm a competent corporal and Sang-woo is a sergeant soon to go home." The player thanked them and the old man asked, "If it's alright with you, can I join you guys too?" Kyung-mi welcomed the old man to their team. "Then you can be the sergeant major who served in the army his whole life." The old man thanked her. "My goodness, we've formed a pretty nifty team."
Player 101 and his squad walked up to player 67 and said, "I'll forget our history and take you in. Join my team...We made a pretty good team before, didn't we?" "You're still bluffing? There are hordes of people out there looking for you." Player 101 chuckled and said, "Stop playing around. No matter how tough you are, you can't win here all by yourself." Then he started looking at the bed stand with no bed and said, "Don't you see this? Those masked jerks took away the beds of those who died. One mistake, and your bed will be out too." He began to chuckle again. "Worry about your own bed." Player 101's squad began to laugh at what she said. So she turned to them. "Gentlemen, don't work with this jerk. On the outside, he picked his underlings' pockets for his own benefit. Then he got bold enough to lay hands on his boss's pockets, got caught, and ended up like this." Everyone stopped laughing at this point. She continued to say, "Know what guys like him are referred to in my hometown? A revolutionary asshole." Everyone in player 101's squad started laughing which infuriated player 101. "You commie bitch." As he started walking towards her, player 67 took out a pocket knife she snuck in with.
Before things could escalate, the same woman who had the nameless child interrupted them. "Girls and boys. Sorry for breaking into this conversation." Player 101 at this point was very annoyed. "What do you want?" That caught the woman off guard. "Oh my. You're very handsome." She winked at him and said, "Hey, let me join." "Join what?" "Your team." He let out a low chuckle and said, "What are you good at?" She quickly said, "Everything except for the things I'm not." Then the woman looked at player 67 and said, "I'd be much more useful than this skinny girl in many ways." His squad just Oo'd at what she said. Player 101 said, "You're that good, should we get it on? There are empty beds." The woman's smile slowly faded as his squad began to laugh once more.
The intercom announcesYour mealtime begins now.
All players, please come out to the front
Player 101 went up to the woman's face and said, "After we eat." As the intercom repeats, player 101 starts to walk away, leaving the woman standing there. The woman said, "Those thugs." and started to walk to the line to get food. Player 67 on the other hand, looked up at the ceiling where the vents are. That's when an idea came across her head.
As The Front was reviewing player's files, a boss came up and said, "Out of 201 players, 187 players returned. The re-entrance rate is 93%." The Front answered, "Keep an eye on those who didn't return, and keep me posted.." "Yes, sir." The boss turned around and left.
Kyung-mi and the others sat on the floor and ate their food. After the old man opened his lunchbox, he said, "This brings back old memories." Kyung-mi questioned, "Did you used to have lunch boxes like this?" "Of course. My wife was always busy every morning preparing lunch boxes for me and my children." Kyung-mi smiled and said, "That's sweet." Sang-woo stopped eating and said, "Kyung-mi." "Yea?" "If you have time to reminisce, try to figure out what the next game will be." Kyung-mi scoffed, "I can't figure out what the next game will be. We'll find out when it begins." Then the old man comes in, "Thinking about what we played so far, I'm sure it'll be one of the games kids played way back in the day." Kyung-mi agrees. "But there are too many games. There are Ddakji games, Dabanggu, Hopscotch, Buseokchigi, Tag, Don Katsu, Freeze Tag. And for us girls, Gonggi, Elastics, and Cat's Cradle." The man looked a bit sad, "I don't know how to play any of those." Kyung-mi leaned in and said, "Don't kids in your country play these games?" He simply shook his head.
But Sang-woo reassured him that it was okay. "Kids' games have simple rules. We'll help you if you don't know." He thanked Sang-woo and continued eating.
