JOANIE
Beep, beep beep!
Oh god, I hate the sound of my alarm clock. That relentless shrill ring telling me it's 4.00am and to get my ass out of bed to make a start on the dough so my bread is ready in time for the morning breakfast rush. I really need to take bread off the menu just so I can sleep more.
The perks of living above the cafe is that I just need to throw on some clothes and run down stairs to mix and knead my dough, then I can come back up to my tiny one bed apartment to shower and get ready whilst leaving my dough to rise before finishing off the rest of my orders later on.
Bread needs at least four hours to prep, knead, rise and bake and fuck it's 4.15am already!
As i'm running late I decide to just head down in what I slept in, an old band T.Shirt that barely covers my ass and some black panties. I throw my hair up into a messy bun, grab my apron then wash my hands thoroughly before getting all my ingredients out and set to work. The Cafe has a large glass window at the front so you can partially see the kitchen from the high street, but as it's so early i'm confident no one will see me dressed like...
Knock, Knock, Knock.
The sound of someone knocking on the glass window makes me jump so much that I drop the bowl of half mixed dough onto the floor, the flour explodes into a mist all over me and i'm left covered from head to toe.
Without thinking about what i'm wearing I storm over to the darkened window and see two mischievous light blue orbs looking back at me.
"What the fuck are you doing here Caleb?" I bark at him through the window.
"Let me in," he smirks and I actually growl with frustration. I go to the door and unlock it, swinging it open so hard that the glass tremors. Caleb shuffles in with a huge smile on his face which only makes me madder. I re-lock the door cursing under my breath as I do, before spinning around to face.
"Well? What the hell are you doing here? You've ruined this mornings bread batch. It's not good for my business to let customers down. So seriously, why are you here? Are you drunk? Stumbling on your way home after a party, cause I don't have time for this shit..." I rant but Caleb just stares at me with a big smile across that stupid gorgeous face of his.
I put my hands on my hips with irritation. "Well?!" I yell.
Caleb leans against one of my dining tables with his arms crossed and a grin that makes me want to punch him. "You always bake dressed like that?" Caleb huskily asks as his bright blue eyes look me up and down slowly.
For a moment i'm confused before I look down to see that i'm literally wearing nothing. My apron does little to hide my figure, my long legs are totally on display and from the cold air thats just hit me from letting Caleb in i'm pretty sure he can see my rock hard nipples through this thin t.shirt.
"Holy shit," I yelp as I cross my arms over my breasts and spin around to hide away from his piercing eyes. But Caleb's chuckle makes me look over my shoulder at him.
"Yeah that view is so much better, nice panties J," Caleb laughs and I make a dash into the kitchen to hide behind the counter.
Oh fucking wonderful, I forgot my ass was out too.
"I said why are you here?" I yell a little louder, now more than anything out of embarrassment as I grab a kitchen towel and try and cover my ass with it. Caleb pushes off from the table and saunters over to the kitchen entrance and leans on the door frame.
"I'm here to help, i'm your new delivery boy haven't you heard!" He says playfully, but now i'm pissed.
"What are you talking about? I don't need any help!" I shout back.
"Your baking half naked and covered in flour, i'd say you look a little overworked J. Plus your mum asked my mum to get me to help with your deliveries...so here I am." he says, this time he's not smiling. Of course our mums put him up to this, when they get together all they do is meddle.
"Get out," I seethe.
Caleb bounces on his feet before blowing out a puff of air. "Look, i'm not thrilled about this either alright but we'll never hear the end of it if I don't help for at least a week or two. You know our mums won't let this go."
"This isn't going to work, I can't even pay you!" I grumble. As much as I want to fight him on this, I know he's right once our mums get involved they are an unstoppable force.
"As if I need the money," he scoffs.
What-an-arrogant-shit!
I roll my eyes at him with disdain. "Fine, well if you want to help rich boy you can start by clearing this mess up whilst I go and shower." I say to him as I push past him so he stumbles back slightly. I give up trying to cover my ass up with the kitchen towel and throw it back at him so it hits his bemused face. I stride confidently to my staircase with my flour covered head held high until I reach my apartment. Once I close my door I rest my back and head against the door and cover my face with my hands as big tears roll down my face.
I will not let him see me cry.
I will never admit to him how much that embarrassed me.
Two weeks max, then Caleb is gone.
