Chapter Nineteen
thena what was that?

3rd Person POV

brandon drove thena home that night, they snuck in through her window. she heard her phone ringing but she couldn't bring herself to answer. she knew who it was but she couldn't do it. not, rowan, not hailey, not elisia, not anyone but brandon would listen and not freak out.

"thena what was that?" he asked as she sat down on her bed and he turned his body to hers. she got up and locked her door making sure her parents wouldn't come in

"do we have to talk about it?" she whispered and he took off his sweatshirt and wrapped it around her

"thena i saved you from dying , what was that?" he continued and she sighed

"i can't tell you" she stated and he nodded sadly

"are you okay?" he whispered as she laid down and put her head in his lap

"i almost got killed so not really" she said and he nodded

"on the other note how's this project going?" he questioned knowing that she wanted to change the topic

" I finished it I talked about your dad and my parents. You know how you wish your parents were perfect but they aren't" she said and he nodded in agreement

"wow so that's what runs through your head" he said and she agreed

" Thena that newspaper clip you found I cut it out myself I felt so guilty because I didn't stand up for him when he needed it but I could film him and stay in there when he defended me I stood there laughing recording I felt like a piece of shit" he said as he started to play with her hair

" I get it" she said and he picked up the dog

" So this is piggy?" he asked holding the dog above her head and she laughed as her hands shot up to grab it and he laughed

"fine yes that's piggy" she said and he pulled out fishy

"figgy" he said chuckling and she chuckled with him as they put fishy and piggy together

"figgy for life" they said together

" Hey b can I tell you something?" she asked and he agreed

"yeah what's going through that pretty head of yours?" he asked and she smiled at him

" You were right me and rowan post those flyers ourself. i guess some part of me believes it, Like maybe I am a crazy crack bitch and maybe I am a bad person" she said and he grabbed her face

"you aren't crazy thena and you aren't a bad person, trust me thena you are the best person i know and i mean that" he said and she made eye contact

"can i tell you something?" he said and she nodded as he leaned in slowly. she looked into his eyes and she leaned in , they kissed. he held the side of her face as she held his and it was slow. they pulled away and leaned their foreheads against each other

"pretty good secret" she said and he laughed

"yeah" he said breathily, they continued to stare into each other's eyes and she leaned into him again. that was until her phone chimned and they pulled away

"who is it?" he whispered and she smiled . she picked up her phone and saw a text from king cobra

' Meet me at the zoo party tonight 316 1st St' the text read and she put her phone down

"hey b" she said and he nodded

"yeah t?" he asked and she leaned in kissing his forehead

"i have to go" she said and he nodded

"we'll talk about this later" he asked and she agreed

"later" she said and he stood up as he kissed the crown of her head and snuck out of her window. she rode her bike to the location of the party, she ignored the texts from rowan and hailey and the others. she put on the mask and walked into the party

she looked around seeing a whole lot of people in a whole lot of places that she didn't like. she made eye contact with some people through her crow mask but besides that, she couldn't bear anything the music and yelling

she felt uncomfortable, insanely uncomfortable but she had to do this. no matter what she had to do this, she looked around and saw people making out. she then looked up and was met with a cobra mask looking back at her. she tried to follow this character but to no avail could she catch up

she continued to run after them, she knew they knew she was following. they knew she was following them.

what thena didn't know was it was the wrong person, she wasn't following king cobra or the actual one, she was following a fake, a pretend, a copycat and she didn't want to know who this copycat was.

she got a text from elisia

"they know ; get out" the text read and thena continued to followed king cobra. she turned and there he was, she grabbed the mask and there he was

brandon, the one person she wished it wasnt. he grabbed her ring and she rang off holding the mask. she had tears on her face , she got in the car and looked at hailey and rowan

"it was brandon, king cobra is brandon" she cried and rowan wrapped her arms around her

thena lay there crying

why him? why was it him?
