Chapter 10: Friend or Foe

A/N

As I was writing the story I realized I was listening to a lot of music scores and I typically like reading while listening to them. So I came up with an idea to provide you with music that you can listen to while reading my story.

Three hours later team 7 was standing at the gates of Konoha ready for their mission except for Kakashi, he was assigned to another last-minute mission and the teens of team 7 got captain Yamato as Kakashi's temporary replacement. What they didn't know was that the former ANBU Yamato was assigned to the squad on purpose. His unique kekkei genkai would come in handy in case Naruto was to unleash the Kyubi chakra on them.

Team 7 was ecstatic, well maybe except for Sai that was recently assigned to the squad, it was as if the boy had no personality whatsoever. Even by Sasuke's standards, that guy was emotionless.

After three years the original members of Team 7 were finally close to finding Naruto Uzumaki. That hyperactive blond used to bring the light to the otherwise gloomy and brooding squad, he was an obnoxious ball of sunshine that had so much energy it was intoxicating. 

The day he left it was as if all the hope and happiness the squad had was sucked out leaving them searching for scrambles of it here and there.

These past 3 years however there was one question that always ran through team 7s mind: "Did they really know him?", not the happy go lucky kid, but the real him, the boy behind the mask. 

They were selfish, taking it as a given, never wondering how he really felt, never noticing the times he'd space out with a sad and pained look on his face. He was their teammate and the truth is they really knew nothing about him and that hurt even more. So as they quickly moved through the tree branches the thoughts of their blond teammate never left their mind.

"I wonder what he looks like after all those years?" Sakura wondered aloud "He is probably taller now, hmmm I wonder if he is taller than me or better maybe he is taller than Sasuke, what do you think Sasuke? What do you think Naruto looks like?" she was really getting on Sasuke's nerves as she continued 

"He is probably strong, Lord Fourth mentioned that he is in the Akatsuki. I wonder."

"You seem to be too curious about this killer? After all, you are forgetting the fact that Naruto Uzumaki is an unstable psychotic criminal." Sai said shrugging, this was the last straw for Sasuke as he halted and was at Sai's neck in an instant.

"How dare you call him that?" Sasuke spit out, his Sharingan activating "How dare you call my friend that?" Sakura was just staring at them in shock.

"Like it or not Sasuke but Naruto is a killer, the ANBU that were buried three years ago are a testament to that. I was just stating the obvious" Sai said with a slight smile on his face.

"SHUT UP! SHUT UP!" Sasuke yelled as he threw a punch at Sai's face, only to see the boy smile even more.

"You can punch me all you want Sasuke, it doesn't change the fact that your friend is a cold-blooded murderer" Sasuke suddenly stood up turning away from Sai and closing his eyes.

"Deep down even you know I'm right, you can't deny the truth, actually didn't you want to go, rogue, before that to take revenge on your older brother who also went rogue. Maybe sympathizing with criminals is your thing Sasuke?" The boy in question just stood there, Sakura could see him shudder slightly.
