The first weak rays of the sun broke through the clouds and the stained glass windows and illuminated the rooms in Gryffindor tower.
In Harry and Ron's room, everyone was still asleep, but Neville. Ron was snoring loudly and poor Neville couldn't sleep because of him
It was around 8 in the morning and already time to get up because classes start at 9, but there was no clock or alarm in the room since the only clock they had was Neville's which he broke yesterday
Ten minutes passed...fifteen..twenty.. half an hour..and finally it was 10 until 9.
All the students (except Harry, Ron, Neville, Dean and Seamus) have already eaten breakfast and were heading to their classrooms

Harry woke up and looked outside the window. The sun was up and that usually means it's around 8. He looked around and saw everyone was still asleep. He wondered if Neville's alarm even rang.
There is no clock in sight, so he doesn't know the time.

He got up and went to Ron's desk because he knows Ron owns one, and he keeps it under his huge pile of clothes.
Once he found it he looked at the time but couldn't see clearly because he didn't put his glasses on.
He reached for them and saw it's 8:52am.

"Ron..." he tried waking him up, "Ron wake up it's almost 9!"

"What?" Ron asked sleeply

"We have Potions in a few minutes, get up"

Ron jumped out of bed and started changing. The others in the room suddenly woke up and scattered around the room to get ready in time.
Everyone hurried to the bathroom, forgetting their books and pens. They didn't even know (except Harry) what their first class was.

"Hermione is one hundred percent already in the dungeons," Ron said, forgetting that Hermione is not at Hogwarts, but at home.

Let's go," Harry told him

Ron didn't say anything, but he followed Harry and the other three. They were rushing through the corridors and stairs to the dungeons, hoping to arrive exactly at 9, but when they left the common room it was already 9.
Finally they reached the door and stopped. No one dared to knock on Snape's door and apologize for being late because they overslept.

"I don't think this makes sense," Dean said

"Yeah.." Neville answered a little scared
"I think he would tell us that we don't even have to go in"

"Who cares" said Seamus "Mum will be mad at me if she hears about this"

He went to open the door but Ron stopped him.

"Then at least wait until we leave you bloody plonker" Ron snapped at him because it didn't occur to him how his mom would find out about it at all, and secondly how he is such a wimp.

Seamus glared at him and finally gave up on entering the class.

"Let's just go before Snape hears us" he said

The six of them decided to go to the common room and play cards to pass the time until the next class, which was Defense against the Dark Arts. A very interesting subject until Dolores Umbridge didn't take the role as a professor to teach the subject. They were only learning theory but nothing practical, and the whole point of DADA was to teach them defensive and attacking spells

Ron didn't feel like playing cards, but watched from the sidelines. He thought about Hermione.
Maybe he will visit her tomorrow if he asks the headmaster before that if he can use floo powder, but does she have a fireplace? She does probably.
Then it occurred to Ron that he could send her a letter and announce his arrival and ask her if she has a fireplace at home.
He looked around the room to see if he had a piece of parchment and a quill somewhere to quickly write her a letter before the next class.
He didn't find any anywhere, so he ran to the dorm.
