I have a secret.

I went to the phone booth and picked it up, answering the call.

"Funaki san?" I heard Sakayanagi's voice say.

I couldn't exactly respond, so I stayed silent.

"Just as I thought, your sickness is acting up again isn't it?"

I stayed silent, confirming his theories.

"Don't worry, I've called your teachers and informed them about your sickness, you shouldn't get in trouble"

It's not exactly the teachers who I care about, if Ryueen found out I couldn't speak, then he would tease me relentlessly.

DAMN IT I COULDN'T RESPOND.

"I'll take your silence as approval Funaki, have a good day at school!" Sakayanagi said, hanging up the call.

So here I am, sitting at my desk silently.

"Funaki san, good morning!" Hiyori said energetically.

I nodded in response.

"Is something wrong? You seem a bit under the weather..." Hiyori asked concerned.

"Ah! It must be because it's a Friday isn't it! Don't worry, the weekend is just around the corner!"

Luckily the teacher walked in and started the lesson, giving me a chance to play it off as simply not being able to respond because of class.

The lesson carried on as usual, the teacher didn't call on me to answer any questions, but they did seem to give me some pitiful looks, what exactly did Sakayanagi tell them?

"Alright that concludes the lesson, you all can go out to lunch now" Sakagami sensei dismissed.

"Hey Funaki-"

Before Hiyori could strike up a conversation I bolted out of the classroom. I'm sorry book friend, but this was the only way to make it seem not awkward!

Eventually, I ended up in the cafeteria and got my usual set of food.

Now I just need to find a seat...
