I looked over at Hiyori giggling next to me and felt a strange warm sensation in my chest. "Who would've thought just talking with someone could make me feel this way?" I pondered, gazing at their cheerful expression.
My pleasant moment was interrupted by the loud screech of the classroom door opening. "Good morning everyone, I'm your homeroom teacher, Sakagami Kazuma. I'll be with you all for the next three years," announced the man who entered. I examined him closely but he didn't give me an impressive vibe.
"As I'm sure you've been informed, outside contact is forbidden here. However, we still have plenty of amenities like movie theaters, restaurants, etc," he continued. Nothing we didn't already know.
"Now for the important part - you can purchase anything on campus using private points. You all currently have 100,000 points for this month." Interesting, this school is quite indulgent.
"Each point equals one yen. You'll receive a monthly allowance of points," he added. This detail caught my full attention.
"We get 100,000 yen every month!? Awesome!" a boy cheered loudly.
The teacher smirked slightly, but it was enough for me to pick up some information. If each point was really worth a yen, the government would be paying 16 million yen per month just for first years. That seems unrealistic. Also, he never actually said we'd get 100,000 points monthly, just that we'd receive an allocation. His smirk made it clear things weren't so simple.
"Your point allocations are based on your value here, so be grateful!" the teacher proclaimed, gesturing at us.
I looked around at my cheering classmates, seemingly in paradise. With a sigh, I thought, "Class rankings don't really matter to me. I just want a free life."
After an hour, class ended. "Hey Funaki, want to explore the school together?" Hiyori asked eagerly.
I finished packing my books. "Sure," I replied. Glancing around, some students still looked giddy about the points system. Poor ignorant fools.
The smiling faces sparked a realization in my mind: "This class is screwed."
But as fate would have it, a tyrant emerged. After the teacher left, a boy with long magenta hair stood up as we all prepared to go.
"Listen up you bastards! I'm Ryueen Kakeru and your new leader!" he announced arrogantly. Arguments exploded around the smirking boy.
I looked to Hiyori and sighed. "I-It'll be okay!" they stammered, trying to stay positive.
"Who the hell do you think you are?" "Shut up, asshole!" Insults flew at him until he responded devilishly, "Want to get violent then?"
He was clearly experienced with fighting, though no match for me. A grey-haired boy charged, aiming a punch. "Take this!"
Ryueen dodged and struck his chin, sending him crashing into tables. "He knows how to handle things violently," I thought, impressed by his skill and intellect.
"What's your name, boy?" Ryueen asked the groaning student. "I-Ishizaki..." he mumbled painfully.
"Anyone else want to challenge me for leadership?" Ryueen shouted confidently. Silence followed.
"He's ruthless and smart. This guy will make a strong leader," I analyzed. Another boy attacked but was swiftly kicked in the groin. "Definitely ruthless," I thought.
Hiyori looked at me puzzled. "Do you know him, Funaki?"
I shook my head. "No, why do you ask?"
"You looked like you recognized him."
