A few weeks had passed since the demolition of the Moby Dick and the Port Mafia had returned to normal business. Illegal smuggling and murdering any who apposed them with ease. The truce with the Armed Detective Agency had concluded and the two organisations were back to being swore enemies. Well, that was what Mori said to his subordinates; however, many within the mafia had doubts that there were talks between the bosses by the influence of Dazai to arrange a plan if a threat to both organisations ever occurred again.
Akutagawa and Y/N also had concerns of their own about these rumoured discussions. The two thought that the plans he had may involve one or the both of them, Dazai had finally acknowledged their skill, but at what cost?
The pair still lived in apartments opposite from each other; however, the two actually sleeping in opposite flats was a rarity. Love was an addictive thing, a novocaine to the emotions. Numbing the pain of true life and allowing them to live in a world which consisted of the pair and nobody else. Somehow, knowledge of the relationship between the hellhounds had spread to most of the Port Mafia. Chuuya never admitted to sharing the secret but due to the fact that Elise wouldn't shut up about it, Y/N knew that he'd gotten drunk one night and ended up drunkly jabbering to her when Mori had scurried off somewhere. An occurrence far more common than it should have been.
That afternoon, the three o clock sun was shining through a crack in the blinds of the office the new couple shared. The two always kept the blinds shut to let as little light in as possible, though many thought it was due to some other reason after the rumours got out about the pair. Y/N was sat opposite Akutagawa at his desk, he lay one hand on top of theirs, slightly stroking the skin with his thumb, a way to calm himself.
"Thank you." He said, raising his head to look at his love in the eyes.
"For what?"
"For loving me back." Y/N's heart warmed to a temperature they were not used to. That temperature proceeded to climb out from their heart and creep up to their face where it rested itself on their cheeks and the tips of their ears. Naturally, this tint caused by the temperature did not go unnoticed by the observant Akutagawa Ryunosuke. "You're embarrassed?"
"No." Y/N responded, quickly turning their face away from their boyfriend's in attempt to hide their blushing face from them.
"Ah, the great Y/N L/N, the envy of all those outside of the Port Mafia, embarrassed because somebody loves them. Pathetic." A smile formed on Ryunosuke's lips, a rare laugh escaping them. Never had he thought he would feel this happy around a person, especially one who worked within the same line of work as he.
When the world stops spinning, there are two who witness its beauty. A pair bound by a connection of pain. A shining pearl within the dark oyster which surrounds it. At the end of it all, the two had the world to themselves, and nothing could break them apart.
Fin
Oh my goodness, this story is finished. I am actually really sad that I am finished with this but all things do have to come to an end sadly. As promised when I started this book, I will post the original work I made which Y/N's skill is based on next week. I will probably make some adaptations to it due to the fact that I wrote it about a year ago. However, I hope you are all doing well and that you enjoyed my book.
